Sligo GAA receive another boost for Centre of Excellence

July 07, 2014

The €3m project has made significant progress in the past 6 months.
Sligo GAA Chairman Joe Taaffe has warmly welcomed the news that the next phase of the development of the GAA Centre of Excellence at Scarden can now become a reality with the announcement yesterday of a €300,000 Sports Capital Grant.

He thanked Minister for Sport, Michael Ring TD, his fellow Ministers and government colleagues for this investment in the GAA in Sligo.

The €3m project has made significant progress in the past 6 months boosted by the generous support from Club Sligo members and this added boost will see a continuation of that work over the summer.

With 3 pitches and landscaping of the site almost complete, all that remains is completion of the floodlighting, parking and perimeter fencing before work commences on the Administration and Dressing Room facility.

Club Sligo will continue their fund raising efforts for the Centre with a GAA Race Day in Cleveragh on Tuesday 19th August where RTE GAA personality, Marty Morrissey will be in attendance.
