The nomination process for the role of Roscommon senior football manager closes today (Wednesday 21st).

The Roscommon County Board have been pressed into action following the decision of Fergal O'Donnell to step down from his position as joint-manager.

O'Donnell had worked alongside Kevin McStay in the role, but both parties agreed that it was a situation that hadn't worked.

McStay has indicated that he is willing to stay on, but the Roscommon County Board have followed procedure by asking clubs for nominations.

Selectors Stephen Bohan and David Casey also left their roles, but Liam McHale has stayed on as coach.

County Board spokesperson Hugh Lynn told the Roscommon Herald that an announcement could be made within the week.

"When the nomination process closes at 5pm Wednesday, an interview committee will then be established to speak to the nominees," said Lynn.

"They will then recommend a preferred candidate for the role of senior team manager. It could happen quite quickly, in the end, but it will depend on the number of nominees and how long the interview process takes to conclude."

Speculation is growing that former Roscommon footballer and under-21 manager Nigel Dineen has put his name forward.
