Raheen club notes

LOTTO

The numbers drawn in the Lotto draw which took place on Monday 08 August 2016 were 08 09 13 15. There was No Jackpot Winner of €7,200 and 3 Match 3 Winners [Marie Feery C/O TF; Frank Gorman C/O Frank Gorman; Tom & Martina Egan C/O C Casey] (€70 Each). Next week's draw will take place in Doyle's, Killeigh on Monday 29 August 2016.

 

SENIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

With both sides already through to the Senior B Football Championship Semi Finals Raheen play Tubber this Friday ev (26 Aug) @ 6:45pm in Clara in the Final Rd to see who tops the group. All Support would be appreciated.

 

JUNIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Having got their first win in the previous round Raheen Junior Footballers go in search of another as they take on Tullamore in Rd 3 of the Junior B Championship this Sunday morning (28 Aug) @ 11:30am in Geashill. All Support would be appreciated.

 

YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU

We are looking for Volunteers to help Park cars at the upcoming National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, Tullamore on 20th to 22nd September 2016. This is an important Club Fundraiser. It is open to ANYONE who can help (Players, Members, Non-Members, Supporters, Etc.). You can pick a day that suits you best (20 / 21 / 22 September). Refreshments will be provided. Na Fianna club notes

MINOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Na Fianna Minor Footballers interest in the A Championship is over for this year and they will now have to turn their attentions to a tilt at the B Championship as they were beaten by Ballycumber / Tubber in the final group game last Wednesday evening in Ballycumber on a scoreline of 4-15 to 0-04. Na Fianna were not let into the game as Ballycumber dominated from start to finish as they led 3-08 to 0-02 at the break and added a further 1-07 to Na Fianna's 0-02 in the second half to wrap up the win.

U14 A FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Having already qualified for the Championship Semi Finals there was less at stake for Na Fianna U14 Footballers but they still managed to claim the win with a bit to spare against Tullamore in the penultimate round of the A Championship last Friday evening in Geashill on a scoreline of 5-06 to 1-05. Tullamore did open the scoring with their first 2 points their only scores of the half. Na Fianna had to wait until the 11th min to open their account in the form of the first goal when Mark Kelly put a pass in over the top to the square where Mark Keeley shot 1st time to the net. Thereafter for the remainder of the half Na Fianna added 2-02 with the goals scored by Adam Mangan and Jacob Beatty to lead at the break 3-02 to 0-02. In the first 10 mins of the second half both sides added 3 points apiece before Tullamore gave themselves a brief hope of getting back into it by knocking in a goal on 13 mins to cut the defecit to 6 but their hopes were short lived as Na Fianna responded immediately with their 4th goal again from Jacob Beatty who added a point before Adam Mangan completed the scoring on 18 mins with goal no 5 also his second of the game.

U14 C FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

The Na Fianna U14 Second Football team laid down a marker for their first side to follow as they captured the C Championship title by beating Kilcormac / Killoughey in the Final last Saturday morning in O'Connor Pk, Tullamore on a scoreline of 3-07 to 0-03 and in doing so capturing part 1 of the U14 A & C Championship double. Na Fianna playing into the strong gale in the first half opened the scoring in the 4th min with the first goal as a sideline was worked in to Barry Crombie in the square who fired it to the net. Na Fianna then put over their first point before getting their second goal on 8 mins as centre forward Joel Troy picked up the ball in his own half as bursting his way up the middle before passing to Oisin Henchy about 5 yds out who volleyed it to the net. K/K got on the scoreboard in the 12th min raising a white flag but Na Fianna then struck for goal no 3 in the 21st min when Barry Crombie's 20m free was punched to the net by Joel Troy. Alex Bolton tapped over another point for Na Fianna on the stroke of halftime which saw them lead at the break 3-02 to 0-01. The first 20 mins of the second half saw both sides add 2 points apiece before Na Fianna wrapped up the win with 3 points in the last 2 mins. The final whistle brought great scenes of delight as Na Fianna captian Fergal Dolan led his teammates up the steps in the stand to accept the trophy from Coiste na Nog Chairman Eamon Cusack.
