Michael Duignan would be Brian Carroll's choice to be the next Offaly hurling manager.

The former Faithful sharpshooter feels the time is right for the RTE pundit to take the reins following Eamonn Kelly's decision to step down after just one season in charge. Duignan was assistant to Clare's Mike McNamara when Offaly reached the Leinster final in 2004.

"Michael Duignan jumps out straight away," Carroll said in an interview with Midlands 103.

"I think he'd be a massive appointment if he'd be willing to step forward. Being honest, I think the time is now.

"I trained under him in 2004, himself and Mike Mac was a beautiful set-up being honest."
