Cody staying on

Kilkenny have confirmed that Brian Cody will stay on as manager of their senior hurlers for an 18th season.

The insatiable James Stephens clubman is already the most successful manager in intercounty history, having led the Cats to eleven All-Irelands, 14 Leinster championships and eight national leagues.

Cody, who will also be involved with the Kilkenny U21s next year, was last night ratified to remain at the senior helm alongisde his backroom team of coach Michael Dempsey and selectors Derek Lyng and James McGarry.

In 2016, the 61-year-old will bid to guide the Black & Amber to their third successive Liam MacCarthy Cup.

The record-breaking Noresiders will open the defence of their Leinster SHC crown against either Dublin or Wexford next summer.
