Cathal Parlon won't be involved with the Offaly hurlers next year.

The Coolderry clubman was set to miss the start of next season after sustaining a cruciate knee ligament injury during this summer's dismal Leinster SHC quarter-final defeat to Laois. However, the Irish Examiner is reporting that he won't feature at all under new Faithful boss Eamonn Kelly in 2016 as he plans to take the entire year out to travel.

There are also doubts over the future of Parlon's club-mate Brian Carroll, who is believed to be contemplating retirement.

Meanwhile, Eamon 'Ned' O'Connor, who has enjoyed success with Kilcormac/Killoughey, has been appointed as Offaly's new minor hurling manager in succession to Joe Errity.
