SENIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP RD 7
Raheen Senior Footballers proved all their doubters wrong as they showed when facing the exit door of the Senior B Championship they had the heart and determination within them as they produced their best display of the year to beat Shamrocks by 1-12 to 0-12 in the final round last Thursday evening in Gracefield to snatch the 4th and final Semi Final place where they will meet Durrow. Shamrocks were first off the mark with the opening point but Raheen's opening score on 4 mins would prove to be so valuable in the result as Danny McEvoy caught the ball about 40m out, turned and made a run through the middle before laying it off to Dylan Hyland on the left side of the square who made no mistake as he slotted it to the right corner of the net for what would be the only goal of the game. The remainder of the half saw both sides add 5 points each so at the break Raheen led 1-12 to 0-12. Shamrocks drew level within 3 mins of the re-start adding the 1st 2 points. Then over the next 20 mins Raheen edged back in front adding 6 points to Shamrocks 3. With a draw being of no use to Raheen holding a 3 point lead was always dangerous but when John Crombie sent over Raheen's final point in the last min the result looked to be in the bag but there was still time for Shamrocks to put over a free and then get into a goalmouth scramble but Raheen managed to crowd them out and clear it out as the final whistle was blown.

U14 A FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER FINAL
Na Fianna U14 Footballers cruised into the Semi Finals of the A Championship as they as expected comprehensively beat St Vinncents in the Quarter Final last Wednesday evening in Walsh Island on a scoreline of 8-07 0-05. Na Fianna got off to the perfect start when they were awarded a penalty with their first attack in the first min for a foul on Mark Dillon and the same player stepped up to take it, he made no mistake slotting it to the corer of the net. Na Fianna then squandered a number of chances before scoring their second goal when a close in free for St Vincents came off the crossbar for Na Fianna to break quickly all the way upfield into the other square where Lee Mulpeter dribbled the ball round the keeper and into the net. Then midway through the half James Nolan drilled in Na Fianna's 3rd goal and they followed it with the first of 3 points. Just on the stroke of half time it was goal no 4 for Na Fianna when Mikey Buckley lobbed the keeper from out on the wing at least 25m out and so at the break Na Fianna led 4-03 to no score. St Vincents eventually opened their account with a point inside the first min of the second half but it mattered little as Mark Dillon completed his hat trick with 2 goals by the 5th min. Over the next 20 mins St Vincents added 4 points but 1-01 apiece from Lee Mulpeter and Glen Hassett increased Na Fianna's winning margin and Lee Mulpeter rounded off the scoring with the last point in the final min.

The Championship campaign for Na Fianna Minor Footballers continues on as they claimed their place in the Semi Finals of the Minor B Championship with 1-11 to 0-09 win over Rhode in the Quarter Final last Sunday morning in Daingean. Rhode started the game well as they opened the scoring with the first 4 points inside 10 mins before Conor McNally got Na Fianna off the mark with a point on 13 mins then put over a free before the decisive moment of the game came on 16 mins when Na Fianna's Liam Langton picked out Kaelyn Thompson with a pass on the edge of the square and he planted his shot past the keeper into the corner of the net for the only goal. The remainder of the half saw Rhode add 2 points to Na Fianna's 1 so at the break it was all square 1-03 to 0-06. In the second half Na Fianna took the initiative as went in front with the first 4 points in a row inside 15 mins before Rhode back with the next 2 points.
