Daingean Summer League 3rd Round report. Friday 31st July 2015:
Leinster v Ulster.
All to play for in this match which would see the victors progress to the Cup final on Sunday. This game was very close throughout in very wet conditions. Leinster opened the scoring and had built up a 2-6 to 2-1 lead by half time. Ulster had a lot of chances in the second half but couldn't convert to enough scores to catch Leinster who ran out 4-7 to 3-1 winners. So well done to Christy Farrell's outfit who progress to the Cup final which will see him come up against his brother's mighty Connaught side.
Leinster Team: Odhran Connolly (0-3), Shane Daly, Roisin Donagher, Cathal Ryan, Chloe Doherty, James Kelly (1-2), Shakira Darby, Ryan Conway, Regan Kelly (1-2), Rory Wright (2-0).
Ulster Team : Josh Dunne, Aaron McCourt (2-0), Holly McCourt (0-1), Daire Byrne, Emma Farrell, Cian O'Neill (1-0), Oisin Delaney, Thomas Moran Caitlin Moran.
Final Score Leinster 4-7 Ulster 3-1
Munster v Connaught
Sean Farrell's already qualified Cup finalists took on a heavily "holiday" stricken Sean Ferguson/Seamus Macs Munster team, and a gracious Sean T had to loan a player to the Munster side to even up the sides, but "even" wasn't on the minds of the Munster Men and ladies when the ball was thrown in. Aran Byrne got the giants of to a great start by scoring a goal but pulled a niggling calf muscle shortly afterwards and had to go off, Munster seized the opportunity and the recently temporary transfer of Stephen Joyce rattled the twines with some serious gusto, and the scene was finally to be Munster's day in the Sun - ironically as it rained heavily. Ronan Marsh and Stephen Joyce then dominated midfield as they fed great ball into Shane Marsden who turned out a great performance by netting an incredible tally of 7 goals and a point.
Munster Team: Maeve McIntyre, Ronan Marsh (3-4), Aidan Lunney, Shane Marsden (7-1 motm), Liam McCarron, Lauren Farrell, Emma Hanlon, Niamh Ahern, Orla Hanlon (0-1), Stephen Joyce (2-1).
Final Score Munster 12-7 Connaught 4-2
Intermediate Championship:
Daingean bounced back from the disappointing defeat to Cappincur by beating a fancied Bracknagh side in Walsh Island on Thursday evening last by 3 points, 0-17 to 0-14. The management decide to freshen it up by making 3 changes. Daingean started the better and raced into an early lead with points from Jamie Hayes Shane Tierney & a wonderful point from wing back Stephen Burns to lead 0-09 to 0-04 at half time.
That lead was extended to 7 early in the second half before Bracknagh had their purple patch to cut the gap to a single point. To Daingean's credit they never panicked and late points from the impressive Hayes and Tierney ensured Daingean made it 3 wins from 4 to go top of the group.
