JUNIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER FINAL
Raheen Junior Footballers had plenty of luck on their side as they scraped into the semi finals of the Junior B Championship with just a 1 point win over Clara in the Quarter Final last Monday week in Durrow on a scoreline of 1-11 to 1-10. The sides matched each other score for score throughout with Raheen just shading it at the break 0-06 to 0-05. The second half followed a similar pattern as the sides traded points and with 10 mins left it was all square 0-10 apiece with extra time looming. Then with 3 mins left Clara looked to snook it by scoring their goal when despite Raheen keeper Mark Byrne pulling off a great save the ball came out to a Clara man on the edge of the square who blasted it to the net. Raheen responded immediately with a point but it looked to be slipping from their grasp until 2 mins into stoppage time when Ian Buckley took a pass about 30m out and rounded his marker and buried it past the keeper into the net for the clinching goal.
RAHEEN: Mark Byrne, Adam Kelly, Stephen Byrne, Eann Direen, Shane Corcoran, Cathal Maher, Niall Leavy, Donal Boland (0-03), Mark Gorman, Paddy Arnold, John Ridgeway, Chris Floody (0-01) , Conor McNally, Nigel Gorman (0-01), Liam Gorman (0-06).

JUNIOR B HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
Raheen Hurlers got their second win in the group stage of the Junior B Championship against Carrig & Riverstown last Tuesday week in Geashill on a scoreline of 0-16 to 1-03 to get right back in the hunt for a place in the Quarter Finals. Raheen opened the scoring with the first 3 points but Carrig & Riverstown were level with their first score when a shot from at least 60m out went all the way into the top corner of the net. Thereafter for the remainder of the half Raheen slowly edged in front scoring 5 points to C&R's 2 and so at the break Raheen led 0-08 to 1-02. Raheen increased their lead with 3 points including Brian Cocoran's lineball to a single pointed free from C&R. Then just approaching the midpoint of the half C&R had their keeper sent off on a straight red for a deliberate foul on Paddy Arnold. This quenched any hope of a C&R comeback and Raheen wrapped it up with the last 5 points without reply including the last 4 from Richie Reynolds.
RAHEEN: Eoghan Bolton, Craig O'Halloran, Fionan Direen, Kevin Beirne, Eanna Direen, Paddy Rigney,  Brian Kennedy (0-01),  Brian Corcoran (0-01), Jason Hassett (0-02),Richie Reynolds (0-04), Paddy Arnold, Dylan Hyland, Ian Buckley, Ciaran Direen (0-05), Dean Pierce (0-03).

SENIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
After defeat in their opening round Raheen Senior Footballers got their Senior B Championship campaign up and running when the Championship resumed with the narrowest of wins against Doon in Rd 2 last Saturday evening in Clara on a scoreline of 2-08 to 1-10. Doon opened the scoring with a 45m free inside the first 30 secs put over by their keeper. Then Raheen could not have asked for a better start to their tally as they cracked the back of the net with 2 goals in the 5th & 6th mins, the first a short Doon kickout caught by John Crombie about 30m out who ran in to the square before passing to Danny McEvoy who rounded the keeper and shot to the net, the second John Crombie's shot for a point from about 50m out dropped low and as punched to net by Richie Reynolds in the square. The remainder of the half saw Raheen add 3 points while Doon added 4 points so at the break Raheen led 2-03 to 0-05 with all the Doon scores coming from frees. Raheen increased their lead with 2 more points inside the first min of the second half and added another on 8 mins but then over the next 20 mins they could only manage 2 more points both frees while Doon clawed their way back into as they put over 5 points. Then in the final minute there was real drama as first Doon got in to score a goal and moments later they a chance to score anotehr one but Raheen's Brian Cocoran made a great clearance off his own line from which the final whistle was blown.
