What they said ... the football weekend in quotes

Fermanagh's Sean Quigley celebrates at the final whistle. INPHO

"We are nicely balanced and pretty much injury-free at this juncture, so it's all systems go now for the quarter-final."

The Dubs march on to the All-Ireland series and Jim Gavin has them in good shape.

"You have no choice but to do it against Dublin. They have so much collective pace and power. Even their young players, they're just very composed on the ball and very, very quick."

Tom Cribbin's defensive gameplan failed to contain the Metropolitans.

"In the past, that instability has hampered Meath's progress but it's up to the clubs in Meath to decide that."

Mick O'Dowd's future as Meath manager is in the hands of the clubs.

"If you hit peak form too early, then that can be a worrying thing as well, but I don't think we have to worry about that particular problem."

Tyrone have yet to fire on all cylinders but Mickey Harte's men are still in the running.

"We were hanging on a wee bit but I don't think it was that serious as ye might make out tomorrow in the papers!"

Don't believe everything you read in the papers - Kevin Walsh and the Tribesmen claimed Armagh's scalp in the Athletic Grounds.

"There is always a lot said and written when people don't know anything. Nothing has changed there."

Kieran McGeeney didn't shed any light on the challenge game incident that left Dublin's Davey Byrne in hospital.

"It was a disgrace, an out-and-out disgrace. There was no yellow card to begin with."

Diarmuid Masterson's sending-off against Kildare angered Longford manager Jack Sheedy.

"We have got two wins on the trot and it is our first time to get two wins on the trot since the month of January. So it is something that we have needed badly."

Jason Ryan and the Lilywhites will face the Munster final losers in the next round.

"We prepared as well for this game as we did for the Donegal game and got the result. In the qualifiers that's what it's all about, just getting the result."

Derry manager Brian McIver left no stone unturned in his preparations for the visit of Wexford.

"I thought the tackle on Brian Malone was horrendous."

Wexford's David Power wasn't happy with a high challenge that left his midfielder requiring hospital treatment.

"Louth weren't good on the day and we were no world beaters either. We'll have to improve."

Despite their 23 point winning margin, Peter Creedon says his Tipperary players have room for improvement.

"It's the same old story. We make those errors and mistakes all the time. We were awful today."

Louth's Colin Kelly had no excuses.

"I will talk with my family. And I will look at the progress we have made. Listening to the players in there, they know they have made huge progress. They are so, so delighted that they are where they are."

John Evans won't be rushed into making a decision about his future in Roscommon.

"I said to the lads that there was a few things that would win the game for us. It was mobility, pace, supporting each other, driving at them and having the courage, energy and intent to keep going. I told them if we did all that, we would win the game."

Pete McGrath had full confidence in his Fermanagh players.
