Offaly manager Pat Flanagan has revealed that they have worked towards making O'Connor Park a fortress.
On Saturday evening, they play their seventh competitive match at home, having won five and drawn one of the previous six as they prepare to take on Longford in the Leinster SFC.
Flanagan stressed to the Midland Tribune that all year they have been focusing on making it difficult for other counties at O'Connor Park.
"We have emphasised the fact the whole year that we have had a number of home games in preparation for this one. That is one psychological factor. We played six home matches this year, we won five and drew one," said Flanagan.
"The other side of things is that we look towards the future. This is not just about winning a championship match, this is about building a team.
"This team realises that it has to start climbing. To climb, we have to take each game on its merits. We have to get back down to basics and treat this game on the same merits as we did the league final and the Antrim match."
