JUNIOR B HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
After a disappointing defeat in the opening round of the Junior B Championship Raheen Hurlers salvaged their season with a 2nd Rd win over Kilcormac / Killoughey last Sunday evening in Mountbolus on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-09. Raheen playing against the strong breeze and driving rain in the first half were 4 points down before they got their first point in the 23rd min. Both sides added 3 more points apiece before the end of the half and so at the break K/K led 0-07 to 0-04. K/K were again first off the mark with a pointed free 2 mins into the second half but a min later Raheen were right back into it when Dylan Hyland's shot for a point was knocked into his own net by the K/K keeper. 2 points for Raheen to K/K's 1 had the sides level by the 10th min and this how it remained until the last 10 mins when a 4 point haul for Raheen without reply clinched the win.

U16 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Na Fianna U16 Footballers have their Championship campaign back on track as they got a win over Ferbane / Belmont in Rd 2 last Monday week in Geashill on a scoreline of 2-13 to 1-14 in a tight entertaining encounter. F/B got off to the better start as they opened the scoring with 3 points to Na Fianna's 2 before striking for their goal on 10 mins. Both sides then added 3 points each before a late rally in the last 5 mins of the half saw Na Fianna kick over 4 points in a row to draw level at the break 0-09 to 1-06. Each side added a point apiece inside the first min of the second half before Na Fianna struck for their first goal on 5 mins when Reese Seery's high ball in from the wing was caught by Ger Plunkett in the square who laid it off to the in-running Joey Kinahan to blast it to the net which put Na Fianna in front for the first time. F/B hit back with 3 points to Na Fianna's 1 before Na Fianna got their 2nd goal midway through the half when Jamie Ballesty's speedy run through the middle before passing it to Ger Plunkett in the square who turned and fired it to the net. This time F/B replied with 2 points to Na Fianna's 1. Then with 5 mins to go F/B were reduced to 14 when their wing back picked up a 2nd yellow for a high tackle and their midfielder was blackcarded for verbal abuse but they recovered to score the next 2 points to leave just the minimum in it before Ger Plunkett made sure of it for Na Fianna when his shot bounced on the crossbar and over for the final point.
