JUNIOR B HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
Raheen Hurlers got their Junior B Championship campaign off to a losing start as they went down to Ballinamere in their Rd 1 encounter last Sunday afternoon in Geashill on a scoreline of 3-13 to 2-07. Ballinamere opened the scoring with a goal straight from the throw in and added 2 points before Raheen got off the mark with a goal on 9 mins when Paddy Rigney's run in and shot was blocked down by the keeper and scrambled into the net by Ian Buckley. The remainder of the half did not get any better for Raheen as they added just 2 pointed frees as Ballinamere pulled clear adding 2-07 to lead at the break 3-09 to 1-02. Both sides added 3 points apiece early in the second half before Raheen scored their 2nd goal on 23 mins when a 65 taken by Brian Corcoran landed in the square and flicked to the net by Keith Quinn. Raheen then added 2 more points from Stephen Pierce and Paddy Rigney before Ballinamere wrapped it up with the final point on the stroke of full time.

U14 FOOTBALL FEILE LEAGUE SEMI FINAL
Na Fianna U14 Footballers just missed out on a place in the National Feile Peil na Nog as they were beaten by last years League & Championship winners Ferbane / Belmont in the the League Final last Friday evening in Clara on a scoreline of 4-08 to 2-03. Na Fianna reached the final by winning against Shamrocks in the Semi Final earlier on Friday evening by just the minimum margin in a very low scoring encounter 0-03 to 0-02. It was just 0-01 apiece at halftime. Both sides then added another point each before Jacob Beatty put over the winning point with just 3 mins left but Shamrocks still had a chance to level it with the last kick a 20m free which went wide. This put Na Fianna through to the final against Ferbane / Belmont who easily came through against Edenderry in their semi final. Na Fianna got off to a great start opening the scoring with 2 points followed by their first goal on 4 mins scrambled in by Lee Mulpeter. Unfortunately things went downhill from here as F/B got going scoring 3-03 without reply over the remainder of the half to set them on their way. F/B added another 1-03 early in the second half before Mark Dillon got in to score Na Fianna's second goal on 13 mins but by this stage there just too big a gap to close and F/B wrapped it up with their last 2 points to Na Fianna's 1 in the time remaining. Na Fianna wish Ferbane / Belmont the best of luck representing Offaly in the Feile Peil na Nog.
