MINOR FOOTBALLERS SUFFER HEAVY DEFEAT

Following the glory and promise of the excellent win over Clara, hopes were high going to O'Connor Park last Saturday for the Minor Final.  However, the youth and stature of the team was no match for a physically stronger and fluid team from the Ferbane Parish.  Made up of players from Ferbane, Belmont and Shannonbridge the West Offaly outfit were good value for their win.
Edenderry never got out of the blocks and were 2-06 to 0-3 down after 20 minutes.  A series of unfortunate errors killed the game as a contest.  To their credit Edenderry never gave up and were driving forward until the last lick of the ball.  A fourth minor final defeat since 2008 is unfortunate.  Notwithstanding that you must make it to a final to be beaten in it, the club needs to examine the defeats closely in an effort to derive lessons for future years.
The club wishes to thank the players for their efforts throughout the year along with the management team of John Mason, Robbie Glennon and Stephen Guing.
