Kirwan delighted for Birr camogs

October 10, 2014

Birr manager Paddy Kirwan has described last Saturday's senior camogie championship success as one of the sweetest he's experienced.

Birr saw off the challenge of Shinrone by 3-7 to 0-15 at St Brendan's Park to clinch the title on their home turf and afterwards Kirwan was full of praise for his players.

"We learned as a team as we went along and we learned as a management as we went along," said Kirwan.

"We brought in replacements there and they hooked and blocked and chased, that's what it's all about. I said to the girls all year, give it everything and they did, they gave it their all. I'm a long time at this racket, and that's probably the sweetest victory ever."

'Player of the Match' Orlagh Kirwan also lauded her team mates after team captain Mairead Dooley collected the silverware on the club's behalf.

"There's no one person in the team, everybody from 1 to 21 was fantastic, all the girls fought tooth and nail for this victory. I couldn't be prouder," she said.
