U16 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Na Fianna U16 Footballers are through to the Championship Quarter Finals despite losing their final group match against Clara in Clara last Monday week on a scoreline of 1-18 to 0-10. Na Fianna got off to a bad start as they found themselves trailing 0-06 to 0-01 after 10 mins but then managed to get going and turn things around over the next 15 mins as Craig Strong put over 7 points incl 4 frees followed by another from David Buckley to just a single point for Clara to edge Na Fianna in front but they couldn't hold on as Clara got through to score a goal along with a point before the end of the half which gave Clara the lead at the break 1-09 to 0-09. David Buckley put over a free 2 mins into the second half to cut the deficit to 2 points but that would be as good as it got for Na Fianna as the remainder of the game saw Clara tag on another 9 points in a row to wrap up the win and claim second place in the group behind St Broughans and place Na Fianna in 3rd place.
