SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Edenderry 5-19 Walsh Island 2-04

The JV BYRNE Sponsored Senior Football Team continued their winning ways against a very depleted Walsh Island side that are struggling this year. However, it must be said that the Reds went about their business in a very professional manner and killed off the game as a contest very early on. Some great scores were had from play as Edenderry moved the ball with great efficiency. Peter Brady and his management team have assembled a very strong squad and have many options on the line. With Ciaran Hurley and Stephen Guing to return from injury competition for places is really hotting up.

Next up is Tubber in the final group game and if Edenderry win they earn themselves a spot in the Semi Final. With the correct attitude and more of the same excellent football, the Reds have a realistic chance to top the group.

Teams: Brian Quinlan, Colm Byrne, Sean Pender, Diarmaid Meleady, David Hanlon, Sean Marshall, Basil Malone, Richie Dalton, Derek Kelly (1-3), Keith McGuinness (0-2), Mark Young (0-4), Oran Lawton (1-0), Sean Doyle (0-8,0-3f), Aaron McDonnell (2-0), Sean Moriarty (1-1).

Subs: Ciaran Farrell for Sean Moriarty (inj), Gary Blong for Colm Byrne (inj), Dean Cummins for Sean Doyle, John Gorman for Oran Lawton, James Mackey for Derek Kelly (inj).

JUNIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
The DERMOT HALL Sponsored Junior Hurling Team takes on Ballyskneagh/Killavilla away on Friday next. This game is crucial for the Reds and 2 points from this encounter will edge them closer still to the knockout stages. The Round 5 game V Gracefield remains to be played as it was postponed due to a flooded pitch a number of weeks ago. Two wins could secure 3rd place in he group but two very diificult encounters lie ahead and the Reds will be made work hard to return to the final berth for the second year running. We would like to wish Jimmy and all lads the very best of luck.

GAELIC FOR DADS & OTHERS
FRIDAY FITNESS - Due to popular demand the "Gentle" kick-a-around is back for the Gaelic4Dads & Others. All those interested in a friendly kick around to help improve their fitness are welcome to attend 7.30 every Friday at Edenderry GAA. The intention is to continue for the next few weeks in the run up to the All Ireland Final and hopefully finish the season with a challenge game against a neighbouring team.

U8 FOOTBALL BLITZ
Edenderry U8's travelled to Tullamore on Saturday last to take part in another excellent Blitz. Each player played in 3 matches against Tullamore, Na Fianna & Shamrocks. The Edenderry lads won all their matches and this is testament to the hard work that the players and management are doing on Saturday mornings at CUL REDZ and Tuesday evening in the pitch.

U10 FOOTBALL CHALLENGE & BLITZ
The U10 footballers travelled the short distance to play a St. Vincent's selection last week. This was a great workout for a very exciting group of players. The lads also travelled to Tullamore for an U10 Blitz last Saturday and played plenty of good football.

CUL REDZ - GRANDPARENTS DAY
Saturday 30th of August promises to be a very exciting morning at CÚL REDZ - just before the guys return to School we are hosting a GRANDPARENTS Morning at CÚL REDZ. We'd love to see the Grandparents of the players coming down to see the great work that their grandchildren are doing and how much they've improved over the whole summer. It promises to be agreat morning of fun and entertainment.

CÚL REDZ continues every Saturday at 10.45am and we welcome all children from 4-8 yrs to attend. Its free of charge and you can drop in a check it out anytime.
