Under 12 Hurling
Our U12 hurlers returned to action with a fixture against KilcormacKlilloughey on Wednesday August 6th last. Despite being scheduled as a double team fixture, our hosts insisted that we play a 13 a side game over three "halves". Our coaches saw no difficulty with this and the boys in blue duly won all three "halves" played. The first "half" was won on a score line of 1-6 to 2-2. The Blues were in trouble on the full back line early on but the switching of Jay Sheeran onto that particular line soon cut out the threat. Meanwhile Cormac Egan and Ciaran O'Sullivan were in total control across midfield. It's not often you see a fox and a lamb combining but with 12 minutes on the clock a long ball from Anthony Lambe was expertly gathered by Michael Fox who turned his man and buried the ball in the roof of the KK net. Points from cool hand Luke Egan and Ciaran O'Sullivan followed before the highlight of the night was provided by Anthony Lambe who sailed a line ball over the bar from 40 yards out on the left wing. A close first "half" ended with the blues in front 1-6 to 2-2.
The second "half" saw Tullamore take the series by the scruff of the neck. Driven forward by bravehearts John Ward and Cormac Egan, the blues never looked in doubt. Casey Buckley, Aaron Rooney and John Furlong tightened things up at the back while Rochey was giving a superb display between the posts. Long range points from Luke Egan, Ciaran O'Sullivan and Anthony Lambe kept Tullamore on top before Cormac Egan blasted to the KK net for the critical score. This "half" ended on a score line of 1-3 to 0-3 in favour of Tullamore. Total 2-9 to 2-5. In the final "half" Tullamore introduced their secret weapons Dan the Man Killeavey, Adam Moore, Culainn Boland, Frank Lynch, Francis McDonagh and Cian Heffernan. With KK reeling on the ropes, the fresh troops applied killer blows early on when Dan the assassin hammered in two quick goals.Cian Heffernan was then put through by our most improved player Adam Mini Moore but his screamer finished narrowly wide of the posts.Meanwhile Culainn Boland and Frank Lynch were putting the shackles on the Kk half forwards at the other end of the field. Fittingly it was man of the match, Lambe who finished the scoring with a lovely point from distance 3 minutes from time. The final score in this the third "half" was 2-1 to 0-0 in favour of The Blues Brothers. Total Score on the night Tullamore 4-10 KK 2-5.Well done to all.

Under 14 Hurling
Our U14 hurlers recorded their second win in the championship last Friday evening after an emphatic victory over Birr in O'Brien Park. Both teams started in determined fashion with Birr recording the first score after 5 minutes with a pointed free. Tullamore took a while to settle as they shot 2 wides but once Padraic Martin pointed from a free the entire team lifted themselves. The home side went straight back on the attack and took the lead with another 2 points from P Martin before he unexpectedly shot the ball to the net from a 20m free. With both sides working really hard Jamie O'Reilly scored another goal for Tullamore before Birr hit back to stay in touch with 2 pointed frees. Tullamore again reacted and after great work from Cormac Izucuchwu and then J O'Reilly, P Martin hit the back of the net again. Birr cancelled that score when a long high ball dropped into the net. Tullamore registered 2 more points before the break. In the second half Tullamore started to dominate especially in defence where Darragh Connolly, Kalvin Fenlon and Aidan Bracken were superb keeping out every Birr attack and supplying great ball to the forwards from which J O'Reilly, C Izucuchu, P Martin and Matthew Keegan all pointed and a goal from Sean Robilliard left the home side in command. Tullamore continued to attack and notched up further goals from Michael Feeney and P Martin (2) before Birr managed to score their first point of the second half. To Birr's credit they did not give up, ever after a J O'Reilly point and a Ciaran Burns goal, and tried in vain to breach the Tullamore defence as both Jack Mitchell and Ciaran Waters blocked and cleared two goal efforts from 20m frees. P Martin and Sean Courtney both scored points before the end to leave the final score Tullamore 8-12 Birr 1-04. This was another team performance with the foundation being the defensive display which gave the team and forwards the confidence to drive forward and secure the victory. Tullamore: C Egan, D Connolly, J Mitchell, A Guilfoyle, K Fenlon, A Bracken, K Mann, C Izucuchu(0-01), D Egan, K Kelleher, S Robilliard(1-00), C Burns(1-00), M Keegan(0-01), J O'Reilly(1-02) P Martin(4-08, 5 frees), M Feeney(1-00), J Dwyer, S Courtney, C Farrell, C Mills Gorman, C Digan, E O'Connor, C Lambe, D Carroll, C Martin, C Waters, A Berry, B Leavy. Thanks to all for the great support as it is greatly appreciated by players, coaches and club. Training continues, all members please attend with new members always welcome.

Football Championship
The senior footballers defeated Tubber on Saturday evening last by two points in O'Connor Park (See separate report). The Intermediates took on near neighbours Durrow in Cappincur on Sunday evening. In a close opening half a late Durrow goal gave them the lead at half time 1-5 to 0-5. The Tullamore defence in the second half came under enormous pressure and coped well however scores were hard got. Durrow kept working hard and pulled away in the last quarter. Final score: Tullamore 0-8 Durrow 1-12. Tullamore have one game remaining in the group stages however, will not be in a position to qualify for the knockout stages.
