Offaly Ladies Gaa Notes

August 11, 2014
OFFALY LADIES BOW OUT OF ALL IRELAND CHAMPIONSHIP.

The Offaly Intermediate team bowed out of the All Ireland qualifiers on Saturday last in Ardagh Co Longford v Roscommon. The girls put in a tremendous performance and were forced to work hard.

Roscommon were favorites but they were made fight to the final whistle. 0-13 to 1-07 winners in the end.

The Offaly girls put in a massive first half performance, scoring 1-03 in the final 10 mins to leave the side level at the interval, they could have and maybe should have went in at half time a further two goals to the good, but opportunities were wasted.

Half time score 1-5 Offaly 0-8 Roscommon.

Offaly were tough and well up for the battle, and were well in the driving seat, Unfortunately the yellow card received by Captain Treasa McManus 10 minutes into the second half was Offaly's demise, a sin binning which should never have occurred, and after speaking to a number of people on the day including in fairness some of the Roscommon contingency was an unjust decision by the Carlow Referee. Roscommon were three points up with only minutes on the clock when Offaly gave one last push up the pitch and should have equalized, unfortunately the ball hit the side netting.
Final score Offaly 1-7 Roscommon 0-13.
Roscommon now face Longford in the All Ireland Intermediate quarter final. We wish them both the best of luck.
