DIVISION 4 FOOTBALL LEAGUE FINAL
Raheen GAA Club claimed their second County Title of the year as the Junior Footballers recaptured the Div 4 League Title with a comprehensive win over Durrow in the Final last Tuesday week in Croghan on a scoreline of 2-14 to 0-06 to go alongside the Div 2 League Title already won by the Intermediates and regaining the title they last won just 2 years ago. It was Durrow who made the better start creating a number of early chances but could not get the finishing touch until they opened the scoring with the first point on 12 mins and could have had a goal moments later but were prevented by a great goal line clearance by Eanna Direen. This is how it remained until Raheen got off the mark with their first point on 16 mins quickly followed by 2 more before the turning point of the game came on 21 mins when Shane Carroll took a pass from Jack O'Brien on the edge of the square before coolly striking the ball into the top corner of the net for goal no 1 from about 30m out and Raheen added the next 3 points before Durrow kept in touch with a pointed free in the last min which left Raheen leading at the break 1-06 to 0-03. The sides swapped 2 points apiece inside the first 5 mins of the second half before Raheen increased their lead with the next 2 points before the midpoint of the half both from county minor Dylan Hyland. Then on 18 mins any hope of a Durrow comeback were well and truly knocked out as Raheen struck for goal no 2 when Mick McManamon reacted quickest to a scramble in the box to slot the ball home and Raheen added another point before a pointed free for Durrow with 10 mins left would prove to be their final score. From here on Raheen brought on their quota of subs and they kept the pressure up as finishing out the game in style with the final 3 points of the game. There was great delight amongst the Raheen players, mentors and supporters on the final whistle as Offaly fixtures secretary Mary Dunne presented Raheen captain Stephen Byrne with the Kenny Malone (Ballinagar) Cup.

JUNIOR B HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL
Raheen Hurlers will have to consign themselves with spending another year in the Junior B Championship as they suffered a very disappointing defeat to Kilcormac / Killoughey in the Semi Final last Saturday evening on a scoreline of 3-11 to 1-11. Raheen were first off the mark with a pointed free on 2 mins but by the 10th min found themselves trailing 1-04 to 0-02. Raheen then got going over the next 15 mins as they scored 1-05 in a row with the goal dispatched on 19 mins when a lineball on their own 20m line was sent all the way into the square by Paddy Rigney and in the ensuing goalmout scramble Ciaran Direen not the necessary final touich to send it over the line into the net. Then in the last 2 mins of the half K/K turned it back in their favour as they struck 1-02 without reply to go in at the break leading 2-06 to 1-07. Raheen came out in the second half firing over the first 3 points to edge back in front but K/K came back with the next point to tie up again. The sides added another point apiece midway through the half before K/K added another moments later to retake the lead. Then with 5 mins left Raheen had a great chance to turn it in their favour when Gary Martin went on a good solo run before laying it off to Conor Dunne in the square but his shot for goal went just wide and they were doubly punished as from the puckout K/K went straight down the field and fired in their 3rd goal which proved to be the killer punch and they wrapped it up with 2 more points before the end to clinch their place in the final.
