Under 8 Hurling
Our under 8 hurlers travelled to Moystown on Saturday morning last. The boys played well and enjoyed the games winning one and losing one. All played very well. Thanks to their mentors for travelling with the lads and to the parents who supported on the day.

Under 14 Hurling
Both Tullamore under 14 hurling teams reached their respective divisional finals. One team were narrowly beaten in their divisional final of the U-14 Hurling Cup on Friday 11th July with the 2nd Tullamore team's final being cancelled at the last moment and has to be re-scheduled. In the Div 5 final, where the Tullamore Blues played Clara in Clara, both teams started off nervously as they tried to come to terms with the 'lift and strike' competition rules. Clara seemed to have settled better but it was Tullamore's Jack Mitchell who put the first score on the board from a 30m free. Clara then took over and with the help of some lucky breaks in attack the home side hit 2-03 without reply. With some great work in the middle of the park by Ciaran Waters Tullamore came back into the game before the break with a 2nd point from J Mitchell and a great strike to the net from James Mullen after a super cross from Conor Lambe. Clara netted again just before half time to leave them well in command. In the second half both teams exchanged early scores before the Tullamore boys showed their character and fighting spirit as they began to reduce the defecate slowly with a smashing goal from Jamie O'Reilly followed by a superb long range point from Sean Courtney. With Tullamore playing well the final whistle sounded and left Tullamore just 1 point in arrears. Congratulations to Clara and well done to everyone involved from Tullamore and especially our Man of the Match Ciaran Waters for his tireless running, his never give up attitude and his exhausting work rate. Thanks also to all the supporters who travelled and transported the lads to the match and kept cheering our team, it was greatly appreciated by everyone. Team: C Mills Gorman, A Berry, A Guilfoyle, J Dwyer, C Kelly, S Courtney, D Flynn, C Waters, J O'Reilly, J Mitchell, J Mullen, C Digan, C Lambe, B Todd.

All players are asked to attend training this week (Tue/Thur 6.30pm) as the first championship game is scheduled for this Friday away to St. Rynaghs. All support greatly appreciated.

Under 14 Football
Tullamore under 14 footballers got the championship off to a winning start with a six-point victory in Cloghan over St Rynagh's last Thursday. Captained by midfielder Jamie O'Reilly, Tullamore hit the ground running on a very fine evening when they scored four unanswered points in the first six minutes. Ciaran Egan linked up with tall full-forward Sean Robilliard who pressured a defender into conceding a '45' and from the placed ball Kalvin Fenlon fed Matthew Keegan who located midfielder Cormac Izuchukwu for the opener. Left corner forward James Mullen scored the second point, finishing off a move which began with full-back Diarmuid Egan and continued through the midfielders and right half forward James Dwyer. Izuchukwu then set up James Mullen for his second point and when Tullamore forced another '45', Fenlon found Izuchukwu and he hit point number four for the visitors. St Rynagh's managed a point from a free but Tullamore hit back when Mullen pointed a free awarded for a late foul on Kevin Kelleher. Tullamore goalkeeper Pauric Martin did not have much to do in the
early stages when his side were dominant but later on his accurate kick-outs were crucial as he repeatedly found teammates. With all of the forwards combining well around centre forward Cormac Kelly, in the ninth minute Tullamore got their first goal when Keegan released Robilliard and his low finish to the net beat the opposing goalkeeper. Another swift move up the pitch which began with Diarmuid Egan resulted in James Dwyer making it 1-6 to 0-1 and after Rynagh's again
scored from a free, Tullamore's Ciaran Egan kicked another point for the visitors. Left half forward Oisin Keenan Martin started the move which saw wing
back Kelleher increase the lead with a point in the 17th minute but an improving Rynagh's then shocked Tullamore when their centre forward ran from midfield and shot to the net. With Rynagh's forwards switching positions constantly, corner backs Cian Martin and Jack Harvey had to be vigilant at all times. Izuchukwu then scored his third point of the half and O'Reilly was unlucky when he darted in from the left and drove a goal attempt at the post. Rynagh's pointed another free in the 26th minute and when Tullamore hit two late wides they were only six points up at the interval, 1-9 to 1-3. The home team outscored Tullamore by two points to one in the first two minutes of the second half and the Blues then introduced Joseph Dwyer. Within two minutes Joseph Dwyer had scored a goal and after Diarmuid Egan's left footed kick made it 2-11 to 1-5, Joseph Dwyer drove a '45' over the bar. Trailing 2-12 to 1-5, St Rynagh's recovered somewhat to score a goal and a point before Mullen got what proved to be Tullamore's last score because the match had to be whistled up early after a home defender
suffered a leg injury and required the assistance of an ambulance. We wish him a speedy recovery. The result was an encouraging one for Tullamore but they will have to tighten up in defence and make their possession count on the scoreboard in the matches to come against DER Gaels, Na Fianna and Ferbane/Belmont. Tullamore: Pauric Martin; Jack Harvey, Diarmuid Egan (0-1), Cian Martin; Matthew Keegan, Kalvin Fenlon, Kevin Kelleher (0-1); Jamie O'Reilly (capt), Cormac Izuchukwu (0-3); James Dwyer (0-1), Cormac Kelly, Oisin Keenan Martin; Ciaran Egan (0-1), Sean Robilliard (1-0), James Mullen (0-5). Subs: Joseph Dwyer (1-1) for Cian Martin (36mins), Ben Connolly for Sean Robilliard (46 mins) Alex Guilfoyle, Michael Feeney, Ciaran Digan, Oisin Rice, Conor Lambe, Dean Molloy, Eoin O'Connor, Dylan Boland, Adam Kearney, Caoilinn Mills Gorman.
