MINOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Na Fianna Minor Footballers made it a winning return to playing action as they just about got the better of St Broughans in the final round of the League last Friday evening in Clonbullogue on a scoreline of 1-12 to 2-07. Na Fianna got off to good start as they opened the scoring with a point followed by the goal on 2 mins when James Lalor picked out Liam Langton perfectly with a pass about 40m out on the wing in the clear and he ran all the way in and stuck it in the net. The next 20 mins saw Na Fianna build up a lead as they added 6 points to St Broughans 2 but with 5 mins left St Broughans struck for a goal to get right back into it. The remainder of the half saw 2 more points follow for Na Fianna to St Broughans 1 and so at the break Na Fianna led 1-08 to 1-04. Na Fianna missed a number of good scoring chances in the first 10 mins of the second half before both sides increased their tally with 3 points apiece over the next 15 mins. Na Fianna sent over their final point in the last min before St Broughans got in to score a goal in stoppage time to ensure a tense finish but Na Fianna managed to hold out for the final whistle to claim the win. Unfortunately the win was not enough to progress as St Vincents beat Edenderry in the other game to finish as group winners.

U16 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Na Fianna U16 Footballers luckily escaped with a draw against Rhode in Rd 2 of the Championship last Sunday morning in Rhode on a scoreline of 2-14 apiece. Na Fianna got off to a flyer of a start as they opened the scoring with a goal inside the first min when a sideline ball was worked through a few players before being palmed to the net by Craig Strong. Na Fianna then added 4 points in a row before Rhode got off the mark with 2 points in the 17th min but Na Fianna responded with goal no 2 in the 19th min when Colin keogh's pass from midfield was caught by Ian Buckley about 30m out and he left his marker for dead as he ran in a fired it to the net. Over the remainder of the half Rhode added 3 more points to Na Fianna's 2 and so at the break Na Fianna held a healthy lead of 2-06 to 0-05. Rhode came out all fired up at the start of the second half and they hit the ground running scoring 1-04 without reply. Na Fianna hit back with the next 3 points before Rhode struck 1-01 to go in front for the first time in the 18th min. The sides then added 2 points apiece before an action packed last min and stoppage time as both sides swapped scores, Na Fianna adding 3 points to Rhode's 2 to leave the sides level at the final whistle which would prove to be the fairest result.
