Ladies footballers reach Leinster final

July 11, 2014
Offaly's ladies footballers will face Longford in the Leinster intermediate final after accounting for London at O'Connor Park last Saturday.

The Faithful laid the foundations for a 3-7 to 1-11 victory by scoring three goals in the opening 18 minutes through Kym Furey, Emma Corcoran and Emma Dalton. Those scores gave them an eight-point cushion, 3-4 to 0-5, at the break, but last year's All-Ireland junior champions came under sustained pressure in the second half as the Exiles closed the gap.

A Fiona Morrissey goal revived London who had the margin down the minimum with seven minutes remaining. But Offaly managed to hold out, with a Furey free in injury-time being the insurance point.
