JUNIOR B HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
Raheen Hurlers put in probably their worst performance in years as they were soundly beaten by Belmont in the penultimate round of the Junior B Championship last Monday week in Belmont on a scoreline of 3-11 to 0-06. The game started reasonably well for Raheen despite conceeding the first point they got up and running with 4 pointed frees in a row before Belmont got in to score their first goal on 9 mins. Belmont then added 4 more points over the remainder of the half including one on the follow up from a penalty save to which Raheen replied with 1 more pointed free and so a the break Belmont led by just the goal 1-05 to 0-05. The second half got off to a bad start as Belmont struck goal no 2 inside the first min when a 20m free was deflected to the net. Raheen replied with another pointed free immediately but this would prove to be their final score as they went rapidly downhill from here on losing their first touch and misfiring passes all over the field to which Belmont took full advantage scoring 1-06 without reply to wrap up the win.

U14 FOOTBALL CUP
The inaugural U14 Football Cup competition concluded last Thursday evening with the second evening of blitzes across the county. A representative team from Raheen GAA Club took part in the blitz in Gracefield. Having 1 game against the hosts Gracefield and lost against Edenderry the first day out Raheen knew a win against Ballinamere / Durrow in their final group game would send them through to the Cup Final. This was a very exciting game which saw the lead change hands a number of times throughout. Firstly B/D opened the scoring with 1-01 without reply before a couple of goals from Brian Keogh got Raheen off the mark and by half time in these 15min 11 a side games it was double scores as Raheen led 2-04 to 1-02. Again B/D had the early initiative in the second half as they fought back scoring 1-05 to Raheen's 2 points midway through the second half to edge B/D back in front by the minimum but a pointed free for Raheen from Ger Plunkett tied up the game again before Brian Keogh completed his hatrick of goals in the final min which won the game for Raheen on a final score of 3-07 to 2-07. This put Raheen through to the final against Edenderry but as Edenderry as a full parish side had a much larger pool of players to pick from they proved to be much superior as they ran out easy winners by 7-17 to 0-02. Overall this was a very entertaining 2 evenings of games that was enjoyed by all that took part.
RAHEEN: Conor Kelly, David Boland, Aiden Pierce, Eoin Corcoran, Aaron Coss, Ger Plunkett, Shane O'Rourke, Gavin Kelly, Lee Mulpeter, James Nolan, Mikey Buckley, Brian Keogh, David Carthy.
