Offaly manager Brian Whelehan admits that they need their experienced players back ahead of the Leinster SHC.

Whelehan was not afraid to turn to the youngster during the NHL campaign and certainly there were many inter-county debutants getting their chance during the league.

Offaly just avoided relegation when they defeated Kerry in a play-off and Whelehan explained to the Midland Tribune that some of the players missing during the league will be returning or have returned from injury.

"We are looking to have the likes of David Kenny, Rory Hanniffy, and Derek Morkan back," said Whelehan. "These are all players that Offaly need in their squad and in training."

Offaly face Kilkenny in the Leinster championship, which is set to be the first game ever shown live by SKY Sports.
