Football
Daingean's 1st team travelled to take on last year's Westmeath Intermediate semi-finalists Milltownpass on Sunday morning in a challenge match. Short a number of regulars again they began slowly, conceding a goal in the opening minute. That was soon followed by another. After that, Daingean began to get into the game and some good scores followed to leave it 2-5 to 0-6 to Milltownpass at half-time.
The second half turned out to be a one-sided affair as Milltowpass added three further goals. Daingean, to their credit, did battle right to the end and scored two goals of their own through, centre-back, Stephen Burns and Paul O'Rourke.
Final score: Milltownpass 5-14 Daingean 2-12
Team - N. Farrelly, L. O'Reilly, J. McCourt, D. Mangan, J. Carey, S. Burns, P. Mangan, L. Brennan, C. Carey, A. McEvoy, C. McGarrigle, P. O'Rourke, C. Hayes, J. Hayes, S. Owens. Subs used - P. Dunne.

Daingean's 2nd team made the short journey to take on Rhode in a challenge game Saturday afternoon. The strong crossfield wind made for some very unpredictable passages of play throughout, and greatly affected the quality of the contest overall. Daingean played the better football in the first half and the inside forward line caused plenty of problems for the Rhode full-back line. The Connolly brothers won a number of frees which were converted by Shane Owens, ensuring that Daingean went into the break with a 5 points to 3 lead.
An early second half goal from Jake Naughton increased Daingean's lead, but only proved to be the catalyst for a Rhode revival. The home side soon began to dominate and a goal midway through the half gave them the lead after which Daingean struggled to get back into the game, failing to register a score for the remainder of the game. Rhode ran out 4-point winners in the end in what was a worthwhile outing for both sides.
Final score: Rhode 1-9 Daingean 1-5
Team - C. Feehan, P. Sheeran, N. Kilmurray, S. Greene, D. Goulding, J. McCourt, K. McGrath, S. Owens, A. Flannery, J. Naughton, T. Kelly, P. Joslin, C. Joslin, M. Connolly, G. Connolly. Subs used - D. Smyth.

Congratulations to the St. Vincents U-21 team who captured the County Title last Saturday evening with a fantastic win over St. Patricks in O'Connor Park. The victory brought the cup back to the Parish for the first time since 1995. Well done to all involved with the club and hopefully we are now starting to reap the rewards of the huge efforts that have been put into the St. Vincents set-up in the last few years.
