FL3: Owens denies Faithful

April 07, 2014

Fermanagh's Barry Owens
Fermanagh 3-10
Offaly 2-13

Veteran Barry Owens came to Fermanagh's rescue as his late fisted goal saw the Ernesiders share the FL3 spoils with bottom of the table Offaly at Brewster Park.

A virtuous performance from Niall McNamee - who sent over eight points - looked to have sealed a first win of the campaign for relegated Offaly but they were denied at the death by Owens who rose highest to flick the ball to the back of their net.

The result was immaterial to Pete McGrath's side but the manager will be happy with the character they displayed after conceding two second half goals to Niall Geraghty and David Hanlon (penalty).

Ryan Jones bagged two goals for Fermanagh before Owens' decisive late intervention.
