Ladies
Ulster Championship Quarter Final:
On Sunday last, Corduff (the Monaghan Junior Champions) welcomed Clonoe (the Tyrone Junior Champions) to Corduff for the Ulster Quarter-Final. And what a contest it was, it didn't disappoint with intensity and excitement from end-to-end.
Clonoe dominated the first half and Corduff found themselves trailing by 11 points at the interval. In typical Corduff fashion, they regrouped and set the pace from the restart, dominating key stages of play. They stepped up to the mark and the dramatic comeback began as Corduff edged their way back into the game, with both teams level by the 13th minute. The teams remained level for a further 10 minutes of play. For the closing stages of the half, both teams traded points leading to a very nervous finish with normal time ending in a draw on a scoreline of Corduff 3-12 Clonoe 6-03.
Extra time continued to be an intense affair, with Corduff 2 points ahead at the half way mark. In the second period, Corduff once again stepped up to the mark and by digging deep, they increased the margin to snatch a win on a final scoreline of 5:16 to 6:06 and thus booking their spot in the Ulster Semi-final. The final whistle received a massive Corduff roar as the fans made their way to congratulate the girls.
The Corduff Ladies Club would like to extend huge congratulations to this brilliant group of girls and their management on this fantastic result. Corduff Ladies would also like to extend their thanks to the loyal Corduff supporters who turned out in such huge numbers to support the ladies, and also thanks to all the stewards who assisted on the day to ensure everything went according to plan and not forgetting the ladies who provided refreshments afterwards. Hope to see you all next weekend for the Ulster Semi-final, which is also in Corduff. Details will appear on social media as soon as they become available to us.
