Monaghan 1-13, St. Mary's University College Belfast 0-10.
Monaghan put in a much improved second half performance to keep their winning sequence intact in this at times scrappy, error riddled affair that was played in mild and dry conditions in Grattan Park, Inniskeen, on Wednesday night.
The students got off to a lively start and had the better of the exchanges in the opening half although play was scrappy at times with missed chances and turnovers the order of the day. Monaghan led only once in the half and that in the final minutes after the sides had been level three times but the students struck twice in stoppage time to lead by the minimum at the break, 0-5 to 0-4.
In the second half Monaghan made a number of telling changes and gradually came to grips with the situation to level the game after 12 minutes and then set up the win with an unanswered 1-4 between the 15th and 22nd minutes to open a six points lead and that margin still separated them at the finish. St Mary's finished the game with 14 players when Pearse Og McCrickard was sent off in the final minute of normal time.
