Doohamlet club notes

January 19, 2017

2017  A New Year and another new season beckons for our footballer and supporters.  At our AGM held before Christmas it was as you were for the majority of positions with only Eamon Hughes replacing Jim Kelly as Youth Officer and Gavin King our new players representative.

With the acquisition of new ground adjacent to our playing facilities P.J. Harte will take over as Development Officer, a very important role to oversee the development of our Playing Pitch.  Best of luck to all our committee members in 2017.

Awards Night:  Monaghan GAA will hold their Annual Awards Night this Friday night and all the award recipients will be honoured at this function.  Guest of Honour on the night are the Monaghan U21 Ulster Champions 2016.  Doohamlet GFC are very proud to have had three players on this panel Barry McGinn, Barry McBennett and Jamie Walshe.  Well done lads on winning an Ulster U21 medal.

Also special praise for Jim Kelly our Youth Officer for the past six years. Jim collects Monaghan Youth Officer of the Year 2016.  Congrats to all the winners.

New Manager:  At a recent club meeting held in December, Doohamlet GFC ratified the appointment of our new Senior Manager for 2017 Cathal McAnenly from Co. Tyrone.  Cathal brings a wealth of experience both at Club and County level and we wish Cathal and the players all the best in 2017.  Cathal will appoint has backroom staff in the coming weeks.

Championship Draw:  Doohamlet  will play Aughnamullen in the 1st round of the 2017 Intermediate Championship following the draw on Monday evening.
