Currin's Brian McCabe

There's devotion to the cause and then there's this.

On Sunday, Currin GFC Treasurer Brian McCabe was returned to his position for an incredible 59th consecutive year at the Monaghan club's annual general meeting.

The 79-year-old is surely the longest serving club official in the association, having first been appointed to his current role way back in 1958.

Speaking in an interview with Monaghan's Match Yearbook in 2002, Mr McCabe recalled the proud moment earlier in the year when he was awarded Monaghan's Senior Club Official of the Year award.

"I have always had plenty of energy. I'm working away on the farm, at the turf, digging potatoes and milking cows and that all keeps me busy and fit," he said.

"I love the football and I like to see everything ticking over nicely in the way of the club's finances but it was a proud night for me when I got the award, definitely."
