Monaghan county board will have a new top table in 2017.

At this week's county convention, Scotstown's Michael McMahon took over as chairman from Padraig Sherry, who stepped down after three years to take up the role of Central Council delegate, Francis Ward defeated the outgoing Anita Finnegan for the position of secretary, while Eileen Keenan replaced Marion Donnelly as treasurer.

Donnelly, who had served as treasurer for 12 years and a total of 17 years on the executive, was pleased to report that the Centre of Excellence at Cloghan was now completely debt-free and urged the incoming committee to look at acquiring further ground to extend the facilities there.

Monaghan had an annual turnover of just over €2.5 million, with county team expenses of just over €538,000 the biggest outlay. The figure was down €23,000 on 2015, with accounts showing the board having an overall surplus of almost €35,000.

Meanwhile, Brendan Casey and Sean McKenna were returned as Ulster Council delegates after a vote.

Treasurer; A McEntee, Central Council: P Sherry, Ulster Council: B Casey, S McKenna, PRO: N Duffy, Youth Off: J McArdle, Culture: B McCooey, Coaching: G Coyle, Hurling Off: J McAndrew.
