Good Luck Monaghan
OMG...I imagine when that white flag was eventually raised at the end of last Sunday's exciting Ulster senior football championship match there was a mighty sigh of relief among Monaghan players & supporters! It certainly was an amazing finish to a thrilling encounter and the good thing about it is we will have to go through it all over again this weekend when we face them in the replay. Both sides put in a huge effort and left everything on the hallowed Breffni sod and I think a draw was a very fair result and as supporters we should be happy because we are still there. So get ready to wear your county colours again this Saturday 2nd July when we travel back to Breffni Park and cheer on the Monaghan team to a great victory. All the best lads.
Hard Luck Monaghan Minors
Hard luck to the Monaghan minor team who were edged out by a sleek Donegal outfit in last Sunday's Ulster Minor Championship semi-final. If I'm entirely honest, I think Donegal were the slightly better team on the day but in fairness the lads rallied well during the second half and never threw in the towel and if scoring opportunities were taken, at vital stages, we may have pulled it off...who knows!
Wall of Fame Launch
Our latest fund raising campaign is entitled 'Wall of Fame' and we hope to officially launch the campaign on Saturday 16th July in Fitzpatrick's Rockcorry. If you are not familiar with the concept the idea is simple, as part of the clubs development fund raising campaign we intend to build a wall that will contain names of players that ever wore the 'Green & White' jersey. This will include men footballers, ladies footballers & camogie players. In addition, we want the project to be 'All Inclusive' and there will also be a plaque that will contain names of individuals or families that would like their name be included and acknowledged. The design is at the early stage and is still going through the design development process but to give you an idea the image below is our first draft so please keep in mind that it is for illustration purposes only. This is work in progress and will be subject to change as the design development process continues. There will be two types of plaques fixed to the wall. The first will be your standard GAA field layout and players will have the choice to select their desired jersey number that they wore for many years with pride and their name will appear under that number on the wall. The second plaque is simply a list of individual names, committee members, supporters and families that would like to included on the wall. This is obviously a fund raising drive and we want you to donate €100 to have your name etched into the display alongside many legends of the club. To date, we have had a positive feedback from a test group of players and families and we are hoping that all past and current players who have worn the jersey with pride will come on board to support this fund raising event. It will eventually become a focal point on our grounds located at Pairc Naomh Mhuire and we intend to hold a festival weekend on the August Bank Holiday weekend in 2017 where we will have a great night when everything will be revealed. This is one of our main fund raising activities for the further development of our facilities and it will provide YOU with a unique opportunity to support YOUR club and be a part of the future development of Pairc Naomh Mhuire. It will also guarantee that your support will be recorded for posterity on the wall and your name will be visible for future generations.
Monaghan Electrical IFL Fixtures
I have been experiencing slight doses of déjà vu recently, you know that odd feeling where you swear you have been somewhere before or had the same conversation with someone! Last Monday evening I got an uncanny feeling that I have been down a certain road before because regrettably we could not field a team! We have small numbers and our resources our stretched to their limits with injuries to key players, players away on holidays and players working nights we found ourselves back in the unfortunate position where we could not gather up enough players to travel to play Donaghmoyne in the Monaghan Electrical intermediate league. This was not an easy decision to make and nobody likes to concede and throw away points but it was just simply not mathematically possible to gather up a team.
Platinum Tanks RFL Division 2
Unfortunately, last Friday we could not field a team against Blackhill in the Platinum Tanks reserve football league and as a result we had to concede the game and the points.
Go Games Blitz
The under 8 and 10 players travelled to Doohamlet last Thursday 23rd June to take part in a blitz competition. Due to other commitment's I was not able to attend but according to our Youth Officer, Sharon Fox, all the children acquitted themselves exceptionally well and enjoyed every minute. We all know the important role of referees play within our association and I would like to extend a massive thank you to Lee McCollum who, at short notice, stepped in and refereed a number of games. The next blitz takes place this Saturday 2nd July when the under 10 footballers travel to Pairc Phadraig, Oram and the action starts at 10am and finishes at 12 noon. On Saturday 9th July the under 8 footballers will get a chance to showcase their skills when they also travel to Pairc Phadraig for a 10am start.

Community Sports Day
The club in conjunction with the Parents Association of the Scoil Mhuire will be hosting another sports day on Sunday 4th September (Date to be formerly agreed). The organising committee are flat out making arrangements and while details are limited at this early stage I imagine there will be all the usual events including races, the classic egg & spoon race, three legged races, show your strength by throwing the wellie, test your skill at penalties or golfing, have you the speed to take on the clothes line challenge. Our imagination no knows bounds and whatever ever games you may enjoy I'm sure we will have something that suit your interests. Should you have any ideas or suggestions then please don't be shy and get in touch with any committee member and they will be delighted to talk to you.
