SCORN A NOG ULSTER SEMI FINAL.

The first semi-final of the Ulster Scór na n Óg competition was held in a packed Killeavey GAA Clubhouse on Saturday evening last with competitors from Monaghan, Cavan, Antrim, Fermanagh and Armagh taking part. There was a very high standard in all seven competitions with three Monaghan representatives going through to the Ulster final with Drumhowan qualifying in two of the competitions, the Rince Seit and Ceol Uirlise. Also through to represent Monaghan in the Ulster Final are Catriona Sherlock from An Bhoth in Solo Singing and The Gaeil Triúcha Ballad Group. Speaking to the Northern Standard the Oifigeach Cultura agus Gaeilge Breda McCooey, expressed her "Congratulations to all and our best wishes to them in the Ulster Final. My commiserations to the other Monaghan competitors, Drumhowan Rince Foirne group, Danny Tracey in the Recitation and the young actors from Gaeil Triúcha in the Léiriú competition who were unsuccessful on the night but performed to a very high standard. Comhgairdeas do gach duine". The Ulster final is in Silverbridge, Co. Armagh on Saturday the 12th of December.

SCÓR SINSIR DATES.  .

The Monaghan County Final  of The Acorn Life sponsored Scór Sinsir will take place in Corcaghan Community Centre on Saturday the 23rd of January, 2016 starting  at 7pm sharp. The Ulster semi final for Monaghan competitors will take place on Friday February the 12th with the Ulster Final fixed for Saturday the 20th of February next.
