Blackhill Emeralds club notes

November 24, 2015

Tony Comiskey RIP: A wave of shock and sadness descended over the whole community last week as the news of the sudden passing of one of Blackhill's great sons broke. Having grown up adjacent to the football field, Blackhill was always close to Tony and Tony was never too far from Blackhill. His physical stature saw him start to play for the senior team in his teenage years. Probably Tony's greatest football achievement was when he captained Blackhill to the Crawley Cup in 2001. As the 'bomber' full forward Tony led the forward line for years and played an integral part in the side that reached the championship final in 2004. Tony tried to retire a few times but he could never leave the camaraderie of the dressing room set-up. Looking back over the notes this year, Tony's name appeared as he set up a goal for the reserves in a drawn game against Carrick back on March 7th. He served as manager of the team and also assisted other managers more recently. Tony worked also with the juveniles within the club and was always on hand to pass on his wisdom to others in any way, shape or form. Tony moved to Cremartin with his wife Deirdre and when their sons, Conor and Matthew got involved with the juvenile teams there, Tony again showed his great community spirit getting involved and helping out there. No words can make up for the immeasurable loss felt by Tony's loved ones but the thoughts and prayers of everyone associated with the club are with you at this time.  Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.

Sympathy: The club also extends its deepest sympathy to the family of Lucia Duffy, Kinnegan. Solas na bhFaitheas uirthi.

AGM: Will take place on the 4th December at 7pm. Forms are available behind bar.
