Emyvale club notes

April 21, 2015

Intermediate League: Emyvale had a successful week last week when they won two out of two league matches against Tyholland & Aughnamullen & both away from home. In the Tyholland match, Tyholland got off to the better start dominating play but then Emyvale got on the score sheet with a well taken goal by David Bellew & they drove on from there. There were a lot of mistakes & rustiness by the Emyvale side & at halftime the sides were level with a goal & four points each. Emyvale played the better football in the second half but Tyholland stayed in touch, mostly from free kicks, & Paudie Hayes brought off a couple of great saves to leave the final score Emyvale 2:09 Tyholland 1:10. Team & scorers: Paudie Hayes, Mervyn Browne, John Flannery 0:1, Aaron Loughran, Conor Mc Quillan, Karl Mc Quaid, Gregory Devlin, Michael Flannery, James Bellew 0:1, David Bellew 1:0, Daniel Mc Mahon 0:2, Garreth Mc Quaid, Gavin Mc Kernan 1:2, Micheal Flood, Daithi Colton 0:2. Subs. Colin Hughes 0:1, Ciaran Connolly, Ryan Mc Anespie, Martin Mc Aree.
As in the previous match, Emyvale got off to a sluggish start & Aughnamullen notched up a goal & a point before Emyvale got going & replied with a goal & five points. They led by two points at halftime & in the second half, both teams were evenly matched with the sides level on a few occasions but Emyvale finished the stronger with Daniel Mc Mahon in top form sending over some lovely points especially one from the right wing with his right boot.

Emyvale won with the final score: Emyvale 1:13 Aughnamullen 2:7. Team & scorers: Paudie Hayes, John Flannery, Garreth Mc Quaid, Aaron Loughran, Conor Mc Quillan, Gregory Devlin, Sean Mc Meel, James Bellew 0:1, Colin Hughes, David Bellew, Daniel Mc Mahon 0:7, Michael Flannery, Gavin Mc Kernan 0:5, Karl Mc Quaid 1:0, Micheal Flood. Subs. Paul Mc Carron, David Mc Allister, James Mc Allister.
They were due to play Clones last (Wed) evening & are due to play Cremartin in Cremartin on Sunday at 3pm.
