Reserves - Our reserve team travelled to Emyvale last Sunday morning hoping to get their first two points of the season. They started the game brightly with Aaron McNamara opening the score with a couple of frees before Emyvale leveled the game with three unanswered points but this was as good as it got for our hosts, as first Gerry Brady and then Damien Hughes scored goals to open up a six point lead which the Faughs grew to nine points by Half Time. The second half saw the Faughs extended their lead, through goals from Patrick Tavey ,Padraig Greene before Gerry Brady added to his total . Final Score Emyvale 0-7 Faughs 5-13 . Next weekend is a free weekend for fixtures with Reserves out again on Sunday 29th of March when they entertain Tyholland in St.Marys Park with a throw in time of 2pm.Juvenile Training - Can we ask all parents/guardians to please make sure that their Children have their Gum Shields with them each week; we are also encouraging the Boys and Girls to take their own water bottles with their name on them to every training session and match.

Boys Under 12 - The Boys get their season up and going when they travel to Emyvale on Saturday the 21st of March  , the development team which is made up of the boys under 11 will face Emyvale at 2pm while the Senior team will play directly afterwards at 3.15pm. Best of luck boys and remember that it's all about developing as players at this stage of your life.

Boys Under 14 - The boys got their season underway with the development team traveling to Sean's, unfortunately they came up against a physically bigger team, who had two big players in the middle of the field who dominated proceeding.  The boys kept going and to their credit they still managed to score 4- 10 during the game. The senior team travelled to Carrick to play on the Emmett's new pitch on the Donaghmoyne Road , in what was a very competitive fixture the boys came out on top by three points. There were some very good performances throughout the field with Eoghan Casey and Max Rodgers particularly catching the eye. The next fixtures for the development team is a home game against Tyholland on Saturday 28th of March at 2pm in St.Marys Park, this will be followed by the Senior Team hosting Inniskeen at 3.15 pm.

Girls U14 - The Girls U14 opening league fixture against Kilanny on Monday the 23rd March 2015 at 6.45pm has now been postponed, the league will now get underway on Monday 30th of March.

Coaching and Development - Wednesday 25th of March ,see the Coaching and Development Committee holding a workshop on defensive play , this course will be in Drumhowan and the tutor is Tony Scullion , the aim of the workshop is to give coaches games and drills which will help improve their defensive coaching. The Course is free and is well worth attendance by all club coaches.

 

 

Best of Luck - This week we would like to wish big Jazza the very best of luck as he get set for an interview appearance on the main stage  at Croke Park next Saturday with Mary Morrissey  at the National Health and Wellness Conference. A host of the country's leading GAA personalities and health experts will contribute to the Association's second national Health and Wellbeing Conference in Croke Park on Saturday, March 21.The free event, themed 'Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds, Healthy Clubs', is designed to support, educate, and invigorate the GAA volunteers who are driving this important work within the Association. The conference's is a  mix of practical tutorials, presentations, interactive elements and discussion will prove worthwhile to any member interested in learning more about the field of health and wellbeing. RTE's Marty Morrissey will MC an afternoon panel discussion featuring individuals who have championed positive health and wellbeing through their personal and sporting lives. It will include Conor Cusack, Cork and Cloyne hurler and mental health advocate, Tony Griffin, Clare All-Ireland winner and founder of the Soar Foundation, Valerie Mulcahy, nine time All Ireland winner with Cork, Eamonn O'Shea, Tipperary Manager and Professor in the School of Economics, NUIG, Críonna Tobin, a leading performance nutritionist, and Jason Hughes, former Monaghan footballer and one of the leader of Castleblayney's Faughs award winning 'Operation TransFAUGHmation'. Best of Luck big man enjoy the stage and the limelight.

Well Done - St Patrick Day proved to be a great day for everyone associated with Our Lady's Secondary School MacLarnon Cup Squad as the team had a comprehensive won over Carrick Side  Patrician High School. Well done to all the Club Players involved, Ethan McCann, Brandon Rice Pierce Callaghan, Ross Byrne and Mark Connors , the team was managed by principle , former club player and last year's Senior Trainer Eddie Kelly. A great result from a very good team.
