Annual General Meeting

All fully paid up club members would have received a set of nomination papers for our upcoming Annual General Meeting which is fixed for Wednesday 26th November in the clubrooms starting at 7.30pm. Signed nomination forms along with any motions must be returned to club secretary Martina McKeown. You will notice that a number of club officers are not seeking re-election while others have their five year term completed. This is a major challenge and we need people to come forward and get involved. At this stage you're probably aware that I don't mince my words and I don't use any fancy language or flowery terms to make a situation look better! I call a spade a spade and the bottom line is as club members, players, managers, administrators and supporters it's our responsibility to continue the proud tradition of Gaelic Games within our club. The message is loud and clear the club needs new faces, we need new blood on board to bring forward new ideas, new committee members with energy, people with fresh thoughts, workers with different concepts and members with different viewpoints. We all need to stand up and take a long hard look at ourselves and ask ourselves can I do more for the club? We need to plan for the future and that future starts straight away.

Annual Yearbook 2014 - 'Our Club…Our Passion'
The year ending has been another busy and eventful one for the club with a lot happening both on and off the playing field. This year's annual yearbook 2014 entitled 'Our Club…Our Passion' follows the format of previous editions and includes team photographs, loads of actions shots from most of the games and various articles on other events held during 2014. It consists of 28 chapters, 580 pages (full colour) and features up to 1200 photographs. I like to think of it as a pictorial story, an album of memories that in fifty years' time we can look back and remind ourselves of some wonderful moments and relive some great memories. This year's edition will be available to download from our official website www.rockcorrygaa.ie  and my parting gift to you all is that it will be available free of charge (FOC). That's right folks you will be able to download the yearbook as a PDF file and it will cost you absolutely nothing, zero, zip, zilch. Alternatively, if you would like a hard copy then please get in touch with myself. Due to the economies of scale and the number of units ordered the average cost of producing the book will reduce. It is quite expensive to print so I won't make any promises but I will do my best to try and get some yearbook's printed.

Coaching Workshops
The Monaghan Games & Coaching Development committee in conjunction with the Ulster GAA have released dates a number of workshops that will take place during November, December and January. Next up is 'Activate GAA Warm Up' which takes place on Thursday 4th December at Cremartin GAA at 7.30pm. A workshop entitled 'Fitness Testing & Developing a Programme' is scheduled for Tuesday 6th January at Cloghan at 7.30pm and finally 'Planning the Pre-Season' will take place on Tuesday 13th January in Cloghan at 7.30pm. Senior Citizen Sponsored Walk
It's that time of year once again when people get on their walking boots to raise money for the popular Senior Citizen's Christmas Party. I have been informed that due to a clash the sponsored walk organised by the Rockcorry Dartrey Community Alert committee will not take place on Saturday 29th November as previously advised. However, sponsorship cards are in circulation and I would urge everyone within the parish and surrounding communities to support this event which is to raise money for the popular Senior Citizen's Christmas Party. If you are interested in joining the walk and would like to help raise some money you can obtain a sponsorship card from Gerry Coyle. The walk promises to be a great day for all the family but if anyone who cannot do the walk but would like to make a donation then please get in touch. As they always say….every little helps.

National Club Draw 2015.
The National Club Draw was officially launched in Croke Park last Tuesday. Last year, the Draw raised in excess of €2.4m for clubs throughout Ireland. All funds raised were retained solely by the club to assist in funding the development and the promotion of our games. 945 clubs took part in last year's Draw which included Handball clubs and clubs from our Sister Associations. This year there will be a larger number of prizes, all of which are provided by Ard Chomhairle. It is hoped with an increased take up and heightened awareness that clubs will exceed the €2.4m raised last year. Each club retains the proceeds of the tickets sold by their club and with 2,000 tickets available to each club, it means that clubs can raise up to €20,000.
