Charity Fun Run / Walk

Well done to all the runners, joggers & walkers who took part in the 5K & 10K fun run / walk held last Sunday 19th October for the Cystic Fibrosis Charity. There was a great turnout from the local community and from further afield and it was lovely to see so many people participate in the event. It really was about the taking part and enjoying the occasion and having fun and craic with family and friends and I have to say it certainly created a wonderful sense of community spirit  The run / walk was organised to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Charity and on behalf of the Rockcorry GAA Club I would like to extend our best wishes to Sheila Smyth, Louise Reilly, Conor McCarville, Riona Kelly & Maureen Hughes who will be taking part in a massive endurance challenge on Bank Holiday Monday, 27th October, when they compete in the Dublin City Marathon. You are all amazing, and probably a bit mad, but we wish you good luck and have a safe and successful trip around the course. If you were unable to attend the walk / run today, you can still help by making a donation towards the Cystic Fibrosis Charity. Please get in touch with any of the above runners and they would deeply appreciate your support. As they say…every little helps.
Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League
We have one remaining fixture in the intermediate football league which takes place on Sunday 26th October when we travel to play Donaghmoyne. The game has a throw-in time of 2pm.
Ulster GAA Conference 2014 - Health & Wellbeing
This year's Ulster GAA's Community Conference will focus on Health & Wellbeing. This is the first Conference of its kind in Ulster GAA circles and it will reflect the GAA Rule change which requires that all GAA clubs must have a Health & Wellbeing Officer in place from January 2015 onwards. Health & Wellbeing is now considered core GAA business. Five workshops will be delivered, focusing on: Addressing Addiction; Coping with Crises; From Playing Well to Staying Well; Heads Up - Mental Health; and Mol an Óige - Enhancing Young People's Health. Experts in the field and GAA household names will be present to share their knowledge and experiences.Registration is now open at a cost of £15/€18 per delegate, and there is currently a special offer of five places for the price of four at £60/€72. Any club member that is interested you can register by emailing [email protected] or by phoning Fionntan O'Dowd on 028 375 17180.
Annual General Meeting
It's that time of year again and the date for our annual general meeting has been fixed for Wednesday 26th November in the clubrooms starting at 7.30pm. The annual general meeting is the most important meeting of the year and ALL club members are invited to attend in order to reflect on the last twelve months and to look ahead for the upcoming year. There are many challenges facing the club both on and off the field and one off our biggest challenges is the greater need for people to get involved. Unfortunately, not enough members are moving into committee / officer roles within the club or helping out which is a sad statistic. This is a serious challenge and one that requires members to get up and do something. The bottom line is that the future of the club is in OUR own hands, nobody else's and as members we have an important role in driving and improving the performance of OUR club. I want the message to be loud and clear for our upcoming Annual General Meeting that the club needs new faces, we need new blood on board to bring forward new ideas, new committee members with energy, people with fresh thoughts, workers with different concepts and members with different viewpoints…BE THAT PERSON…GET INVOLVED. Nomination forms will be circulated to all club members over the next week or so and should be returned to club secretary Martina McKeown before the required date.
