Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League
Our senior team travelled to Oliver Plunkett's Park last Friday 19th September to play Emyvale in the Monaghan Electrical intermediate football league campaign and it was a shame that we were badly short a number of regular players due to injuries and the home side secured the victory with a final score Emyvale 3-13 to Rockcorry 1-8.
McGuigan Builders IFC Semi-Final
This Saturday 27th September all roads lead to St. Mary's Park, Castleblayney for the McGuigan Builders intermediate football championship semi-finals. The match is a double header with Corduff playing Inniskeen in the opening game and we take on a formidable Donaghmoyne side at 3.00pm. On viewing the league table they are currently sitting in third place with an impressive seventeen points which when compared to our tally of seven this will be a very demanding & stern challenge for the team and will no doubt be our toughest test this year.  Sadly, our injury woes have persisted with some players still carrying niggling injuries after the tough battle against Cremartin in the previous round but let's just hope (and pray) that the magic water and the medical team can work their magic and have the players fit and ready to play for this exciting and important encounter.  It's going to be a hard task but I know the quality and the character of this group of players and I know that they will relish and embrace this massive challenge. We have all seen before what team spirit, a positive attitude and great Rock-Heart can achieve and no matter what the odds we are behind them every step of the way.  The game has a throw-in time of 3.00pm and what I will now ask from our club members and supporters is we need you support so no excuses, show up and cheer and shout on the lads and be the sixteenth man to get us across the line. You can do it lads, and in the word of a former manager…"BELIEVE".
Traffic Restrictions
Please note the following traffic restrictions with regards to our semi-final match against Donaghmoyne in Castleblayney on Saturday 27th September. There is a Fair Day on the same day and the Main Street will be closed. There will be no issue in relation to parking but when travelling to the game you are advised to take the bypass and approach the town from the Carrickmacross side.
Terence Reilly Memorial Shield
Our under 12 team played Doohamlet last Saturday 20th September, for the Terence Reilly Memorial Shield and they put in a Trojan effort against a considerably physically stronger Doohamlet side to reclaim the Shield on a score-line Rockcorry1-9 Doohamlet 2-5. When these two sides met in the league campaign there was very little between them and all the indications were that this was going to be another humdinger of a game and the match certainly did not disappoint because all kids, on both sides, displayed great determination and commitment. This thrilling encounter was played in perfect conditions with the glorious September sunshine beaming down on Pairc Naomh Mhuire and both teams produced a very high standard of football and the large crowd were treated to a gripping contest. Doohamlet started well but as the game developed our players grew in confidence and after an action packed first half the scoreboard showed Rockcorry 1-3 Doohamlet 1-4. When play resumed the boys and girls really exploded into life with some excellent passages of football and notched over some fabulous scores.  Doohamlet knuckled down and battled back scoring 1-1 to leave only a single point between the sides. To say the closing moments were tense is an understatement and the large crowd added to the exciting atmosphere but our wee warriors defended bravely and when the sound of the final whistle echoed around Pairc Naomh Mhuire you could clearly see the relief and enjoyment on everyone's faces as they pulled off a remarkable victory on a final score-line Rockcorry 1-9 Doohamlet 2-5. The kids really played their hearts out and this was recognised at the presentation when the players were greeted with a huge applause from the crowd for their efforts. In presenting the shield our youth officer Pascal Smyth rightly praised the efforts of both teams in providing such an outstanding display of football. It had been a memorable contest and was such a pity that there had to be a losing team at the end of this enthralling contest. On behalf of the club I would like to thank Mrs Margaret Reilly and the Reilly family for their presence on the day and for their continued support of this tournament. I would like to express our gratitude to the Doohamlet, Aghabog & Killeevan clubs for taking part in the memorial tournament to mark the memory of Terence Reilly who was a talented and popular player within the club.  Special thanks to our mentors Gerard O'Brien, John Elliott and the first aid lady Marian Larmer for the time and effort that they spend coaching and looking after the youngsters. A huge thank you to our whistler's Nickey Calvert & Anthony Tate who without doubt carry out one of the most thankless & demanding and difficult jobs within the organisation but they carried it out with great integrity and ensured the rules were applied no matter what side you were on! Many thanks to our youth officer Pascal Smyth who organised this fantastic tournament and for making sure it ran smoothly and I am sure you will agree it was another great occasion. To the ladies behind the scene Tina Rooney, Martina McKeown, Ann Lynch and Ann Carroll who are always there to help out with providing refreshments at various activities and once again they did not let the side down with a delightful spread of hot food and some very runny ice-cream!!! Finally thanks to all the parents and supporters who turned up to cheer and encourage the kids on the day, you make a big difference for the kids on the pitch and thank you for your support on the day and through-out the year.

Tidy Towns
Following the recent announcement of the National Tidy Town results I would like to extend a massive well done to Tom Daly and everyone involved with the Tidy Towns committee who once again achieved a tremendous result in the competition. It's very positive news and a great boost to the local community and all the volunteers for all their hard work during the year to ensure the village always looks its best. I have to say, the village looked absolutely amazing during the Summer and the stunning variety of flowers was blooming beautiful. The Tidy Towns committee has gained points every year and with the results steadily improving it is very encouraging and I understand there are a number of special restoration projects in the pipeline which when completed will further enhance and improve the image of our village.  This is our village and everyone has a role to play to keep our village looking spick and span and on that point I would just like to focus on the bright & colourful flowers hanging outside Pat & Ann Lynch's….don't they look awesome!
