Scotstown Club Notes

September 10, 2014

Gormley uPVC Senior Football Championship: Good luck to our senior team on Sunday 14th Sept as they prepare for a Championship semi-final, where they will be up against Castleblayney at 4.15pm in Clones. There will be a double header in Clones on Sunday with the replay of the Ballybay V Truagh at 2.30pm

Eurotech Junior League: Well done to our junior team last week, they are on a roll after they recorded another league win on the trot. Our junior side was away to Oram last Saturday and in a high scoring game they came out on top on a score line of 5-13 to 2-15. Scotstown led at the interval by 3-5 to 1-7, with a hat trick of goals from Sean Mohan. Sean was the hero of the hour registering 4-1 during the course of the game. Shane Rice and Gerard McCrudden contributed well, Shane scoring 1-2 during the match, while Gerard slotted over 5pts of his own Oram, however, did run Scotstown within 3pts in the second half but Scotstown pushed on for a 7pt win in the end. Team: Cian Mohan; Adrian Carbin, Ryan Caulfield, David Caulfield; Jamie Mohan, Tommy Moyna, Shane Rice (1-2); Peter Hamill, Conor Caulfield (0-2); Declan Treanor, Gerard McCrudden (0-5), Francis Maguire (0-1); Myles Treanor (0-2), Donnacha Dolan, Sean Mohan (4-1). Substitute used: Jamie McCarey. Next Match schedule for Sept 20th against Drumhowan at home.

U16 DIV 1 League: Magheracloone were two strong for our U16s in the semi-final of the league last Thursday, particularly the 2nd half. We were evenly balance in the first 15mins as the sides were level at 3pts each, then Scotstown went in front on 17mins, this lead was brief as they conceded a goal on 20mins but credit to the lads they went in at the break in front with Leonard McDermott and Adrian Grew tapping over the points, it was Conor Mallon's goal on 27mins that made it 1-6 to 1-3 at half time. Magheracloone made an instant turnaround to the game in the opening minute of the second half scoring 1-1 and the home side continued to pile on the pressure and thus secured a good win in the end. Team: Darragh McCague; Eanna Deery; Colum Claisse; Jamie McKenna; Eamon Hamill; Padraig Meehan; Dillon Mc Carey; Lorcan Murray; Ruairi McKenna; Mark Maguire; Jack Mohan; Adrian Grew; Ronan King; Conor Mallon; Leonard McDermott. U14DIV 5: Well done to the management team of Rory Beggan, Cian Mohan, Adrian Carbin and Mark Hand in guiding our U14 DIV 5 side a Shield Final win over Inniskeen last Saturday in Tyholland. The management has captured the double this year, with the winning of U14 DIV 5 Championship back in June. There was delight in the team after such a good win, first quarter had been close were each team meant business, as both teams hit early goals, but as the quarters progress our young lads upped the tempo and had a comfortable win in the end, were joint captains, Lorcan Deery and Cathal Meehan accepted the Shield Cup on behalf of the team. U14DIV 1: Heartbreak for our U14 A team as they narrowly lost by two points against Monaghan Harps on Saturday last. In a game that was tense during each quarter with twists and turns, Scotstown were winning by single a point with just seconds remaining, and then Monaghan Harps struck for a goal to win a highly competitive game by 4-13 to 4-11. Big thanks to the management team of Eoghan McCague, Gene McGinnity, Macartan McKenna and Mark Duffy for their commitment to this bunch of lads during the year.
