Ladies Under 16s': Eire Og opened their 2014 Under 16 campaign with the short trip to Killeevan to take on the Sarsfields on Thursday evening last. Eire Og were on the score-board in the opening minute with a well taken point. However that was to be their only score of the opening fifteen minutes as our defence had to repel a wave of Killeevan attacks. Due to some heroic defending from midfield back and some point blank saves from our goalkeeper we were in the rather fortuitous position of being on level terms as the game entered its second quarter. The tide turned in the 15th and 16th minutes of the first half when the Eire Og girls found the net in two consecutive attacks. They repeated the dose in the 29th and 30th minutes with another two goal salvo to go in at half-time leading on the scoreline of 4-1 to 0-1.The second half began like the first with an opening minute Eire Og point but again it would be a further 15 minutes before we added to our total by which time Killeevan were threatening a comeback of sorts having added 1-2 to their score but that was as good as it got for the Sarsfields as the Eire Og girls tacked on 1-3 in the final fifteen minutes to leave the final score Killeevan 1-3, Eire Og 5-5. A well deserved win but maybe a little flattering on the score-board.Team and scorers Caoimhe Hurson,Aine McQuaid,Clodagh Leonard,Siobhain Smith,Orla Reilly(1-0),Rachel Corley,Ella Daly,Maeve Monahan(0-1),Katie Monahan,Amy Brady(1-0),Caoimhe Smith(2-0),Megan McElvaney(1-4),Laura Hughes and Hannah Hughes.
