CLUB SCENE.
It was a very quiet time on the club front in Monaghan last weekend with matches in the reserve football league taking up Saturday and Sunday. There was a round of matches in the Credit Union senior football league, the Conlon Coach Hire intermediate football league and the Gerry's Fresh Fruit & Veg junior football league last Wednesday evening.
In the Credit Union senior football league Castleblayney had two goals to spare over Inniskeen in Grattan Park, Magheracloone proved too strong for Truagh in St Mellons, winning by eight points, Latton grabbed the bragging rights in their derby against near neighbours Ballybay, Scotstown picked up two valuable points at home against Carrickmacross, one point separating the sides at the finish and Clontibret took the result in their parochial derby against Doohamlet.
In the Conlon Coach Hire intermediate football league Aghabog picked up two valuable points at home to Erie Og, Drumhowan proved too strong for Cremartin in Shamrock Park, Rockcorry surprised Monaghan Harps with a five points victory, Tyholland had too much firepower for Donaghmoyne in Donaghmoyne and Corduff and Aughnamullen finished all square.
In the Gerry's Fresh Fruit & Veg junior football league Currin defeated Oram by 11 points, Killeevan suffered a home reverse at the hands of Toome and Emyvale had a goal to spare over Clones. There was also a round of matches in the senior, intermediate and junior football leagues yesterday evening, Wednesday July 1st but these were Star Games due to the county team's involvement in the All Ireland Qualifiers on Saturday. One game in the senior football league though has been postponed, the meeting of Ballybay and Clontibret due to the involvement of a number of Clontibret players in the senior hurling championship this evening.
