O'Neill Shamrocks club notes Seniors Players will be notified as soon as we get the next league fixture. It is important to keep up attendances at training. U12s Our u12s were beaten by a much stronger and more physical Killanny team in the final match of the league. Killanny raced into a big lead in the first half but our girls fought back bravely and outscored them in the second half. Well done girls on an excellent effort all year and enjoy your break. Clontibret club notes Senior Championship Clontibret 1-11, Carrick 1-13. Our senior team crashed out of the championship at the hands of Carrick in Aughnamullen on Saturday evening last. Our hopes of three in a row were dashed three minutes from normal time when Carrick's Sean Downey fired to the back of the net. We had already fought back from being five points down in the first half, and a John Paul Mone penalty, along with points from Conor McManus and Ronan Murphy saw us go in at the break two points up. We held this lead throughout the second half until Carrick got their goal. Possession was crucial after this and Carrick made the most of theirs by scoring two vital points. In the end the absence of key defenders due to injury proved costly. Best wishes to John Golden who suffered a broken jaw in the opening minutes of the game, but still finished the match. Senior League Our seniors get back into league action against Doohamlet on Sunday 19th October. Intermediate Final The intermediate championship final between Ballybay and Donaghmoyne will take place on Sunday at 4pm in O'Neill Park. Usual helpers required. U13 League Clontibret 4-10, Eire Og 2-09. We played well to overcome Eire Og last Saturday morning. Our unplayed fixture against Sean McDermott's is on this Saturday at 11.30am in Clontibret. This is a very convenient way of making sure that you're in with a chance to win the jackpot every week for a whole year! The New All Weather Astro Turf Pitch is now completed; the carpet has been laid and filled with the appropriate quantity and quality of infill in order to mimic natural playing conditions. The fencing, floodlighting, goal posts and cross field netting are all erected and the club now has an amenity to compare with any Astro Turf playing facility in the country. This development will enable all year round outdoor facilities for training and playing purposes for the youth of the area. The full pitch measures 75 x 40 metres and may be subdivided into 3 pitches, each measuring 25 x 40 metres. This amenity is available to other clubs, interested groups and schools. Under 13 League: The U13s were fixed to play Tyholland on Saturday last, unfortunately Tyholland were unable to field a team and conceded the game. Our next outing is away to Oram on Saturday at 11.30am. The team bus leaves Toome at 10.45am sharp. A win here should ensure a semi-final spot. Please come out and support this talented young team. Junior Football Championship: Arguably the most significant day in the Club's recent history is almost upon us as on Saturday we travel to Aughnamullen where we square up to Drumhowan where a place in the Junior Championship Final is on offer. The match takes place after the Senior Championship semi-final replay between 'Blayney and Latton with a throw-in time of 5pm. We met the same opposition in the league only last weekend in Drumhowan where only after a rather fortuitous second half goal the homeside managed to secure the victory. The game promises to be a true championship encounter and one that should not be missed. Please ensure to be there to support the lads. Junior League: We travelled to Drumhowan on Saturday last where we dropped two points for the first time since May on a scoreline of Toome 0-09 Drumhowan 2-10. We play Currin at home in the last remaining match of the league. A victory here should ensure a playoff for fourth or possibly third spot. Dates and times have yet to be decided. Sympathies: The Club wishes to extend its sympathies to the family and friends of Margaret Morgan and Gertie McCabe who both recently passed away. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. Toome Sports Wear: Anyone interested in purchasing the new Shoe City fleeces, polo shirts or jerseys can do so by contacting Niall on 087 7855686 Commiserations to the Monaghan Ladies who were defeated in the All-Ireland final last weekend. We hope to see you next year girls! Toome website: For any further information you may require on fixtures, results etc. or information on Toome GAA in general, please check our website at www.toome.monaghan.gaa.ie Castleblayney Faughs club notes Senior Team The senior team will have to do it all again this weekend, after themselves and Latton couldn't be separated in the championship semi final on Saturday last. Both teams had commanding leads in a titanic battle with Blayney 7 points down at one stage in the first half. The opening half was a very open affair with Blayney racing into a 4 point lead with Ciaran Hanratty and Marty McElroy among the scorers. However, Latton fought hard to get back into the game and few would have predicted that Blayney would be 7 points down before they would register their next score. The key score from Blayneys point of view came just before the break when 18 year old Dermot Malone coolly finished to the net to leave the half time score 2-6 to 1-5 in Lattons favour. The start of the second half saw a determined effort from Blayney to regain a foothold in the game and slowly, the scores started to come with Ray McArdle and Hanratty among the points scorers. Blayney got a boost midway through the half when the impressive Aidan Ward unselfishly passed to Hanratty, who fisted the ball to an empty net. Blayney, with the momentum behind them added further scores through pointed frees from Cairan Tavey and Hanratty again to leave two them two points to the good. Latton once again came strong at Blayney despite the efforts of Dermot McArdle, Cormac Brady and Cairan Hughes at the back. They drew level again with time almost up. Blayney appeared to have snatched the lead when Dermot Malone fired over a fine score but Latton broke up the field after Blayney had turned over possession to win a free, which they coolly converted to leave the sides level at 2-10 a piece. Championship Replay Following last Saturdays draw, both teams have to do it all again this Saturday. The venue is once again Aughnamullen with a 3pm throw in. All supporters are asked to attend to lend their support, in what promises to be another close fought encounter. Under 13 The Under 13 team had a well deserved win over Magheracloone on Saturday morning last with a final score of 4-12 to 2-06.  Blayney got off to a great start building up a 10 point margin with goals from Kevin Mc Cooey and Aiden Sheridan however Magheracloone came back strong towards the end of the first half scoring a goal and three points without reply.  The second half saw Blayney step it up again to further extend their lead before Ruairi Farrell rounded off the scoring with a well taken goal. There were good performances from a number of players including Tiernan Glennon, Jason Walsh and Tiernan Farrell.  Up front Kevin Mc Cooey and Brandon Rice were particularly effective.  The team play Donaghmoyne on Saturday next in Castleblayney.  Please check fixtures for details. Congratulations To Kieran & Mary Mc Garvey on the birth of their baby boy Aaron U-13 Last Saturday we travelled to Drumhowan for a must win game. Both teams started well with M.McQuaid pulling of some great saves in the Killeevan goal early on. As the half progressed Killeevan began to take control and went in at the break leading 2-10 to 0-3.
