Byrne confident young guns won't be fazed by final

Hugely experienced Monaghan ladies football star Edel Byrne doesn't believe that the Oriel County's younger contingent will suffer stage fright against Cork in today's All-Ireland senior ladies decider at Croke Park. Byrne was just 16 when she won her All-Ireland senior medal in 1997 and she has every faith in the ability of the current crop of young players to perform to their maximum. "I was so young in 1997 that I didn't appreciate what was around me," said Byrne, "but now I'm very impressed with these girls, most of whom have come through in the four years I was out. "A lot of them have played at a very high level with Donaghmoyne, and won the club All-Ireland a couple of years ago, so they won't be fazed by this."
