O Mahonys vs Kilmacud
big match, this will show how good the navan boys are. Hopefully the best team wins. I saw croakes play earlier in the year, they'll be very hard bet.

John Andrews gone...
I think the obvious choice is O Halloran from Kildalkey if Kildalkey were to agree as i understand he has committed for another year. Well done Chivers you gave it a fair crack but you cant communicate with your employers via the local rag.
Others mentioned were Johnny Gorry and Paddy Kelly who i dont think would get the backing of all the clubs and Martin Curran was there before. That said i would like to see a local given it a crack just like Chivers did.

Kilmainham Wood attitude..
i think jimmy is completely wrong!! like dont be stupit how can kilmainhamwood be blamed for holding the county back!! thats the stupitest thing ive ever heard. it is clear that kilmainhamwood have worked very hard to stay senior as long as they did esp with such a small number of players to chose from. they compeated against the top teams in the county for many years and it is a credit to them and the club. now they have serious changes to make and improvements clearly but i could name alot of other clubs in senior and inter that are in the same boat..

Kilmainham Wood attitude..
Harry potter is dead right.Potter to replace cowen and steer this country back on to the world stage. Its clubs like the wood that hold this county and country back from prosperity. Their defeatest attitude is contagious and i personally blame them for the recession.

jimmy.hatter , 19/11/2008 at 15:29

WALTERSTOWN U 21
Well, many of the aforementioned names by bennyblanco were quality players but many only had self interest at heart. Some lucky to be included at all. At the end of the day achieved little if nothing and no point reminiscing about something that never happened. In relation to a certain player carrying weight its true. Hopefully this bunch will stick together and end the drought that has been in walterstown for many a year.

Kilmainham Wood attitude..
As a person with fisrt hand experience of playing for the wood , i would like to point out that this so called ''bad attitude'' is handed down from the top! with poorly organised training, bad management and a lack of outings for the players to make them feel like they want to play for the wood and not like they have to, it cant be expected for the wood to mix with the likes of nom and skryne etc.
All that is needed to sort the woods problems is a strong manager who isnt afraid of names to do interesting training sessions and to motivate the players, last year it was like players were being begged to train or play games and i think all the blame cannot be put on the players, the management must take responsibility for the performances, they were poorly organised and in many players views they didnt have a clue what they were doing. I think more emphasis should be put on the development of the young players instead of relying on the more mature players who have been playing for 15 years or more.

Kilmainham Wood attitude..
i think there is no question kilmainhamwood is shruggling as a club but there is talent there.. it is unfair when people put kilmainhamwood down esp when most of them are from outside the club and dont no what there talking about.. next year kilmainhamwood has the potentional to win division 3 and at least advance to the semi final of the inter champ! a well astabished manager has to take them over and earn the players respect. last year the manager was the wrong man for the job even though this was clear from the start the board did noting about it!! it is important they put some efford into it this year!! another thing kilaminhamwood lack is motivation!! again a good manager will help this but i think the board have to bring the team away on trips r days out or even have sandwitches or tea after training this would make a big difference and would be very do able

Liam Hayes in the Tribune.
CommitteeeeMan

You make a few good points here. However the real problem does not rest with the County board or the delegates who vote for them. They are continuing to do what they believe to be in the best interest of Meath football and hurling even if it isn't. The real problem is that when you go to the club AGM there will only be a reluctant few who are willing to put themselves out to take any job including club delegate. Therefore when these go the County board AGM we have in general very little change from the delegates who were there the year before. Not only that but in many cases the club officer tend to be from a certain clique within a club who tend to run it from year to year. Even if there is a new face this person will already be contaminated with traditional club thinking or very shortly will be. Therefore when this is multiplied by all the clubs in the County you end up with very little movement in personal or more importantly, their thinking.

I would urge all. Particularly younger members in their twenties and thirties to get involved. In the past many club delegates were uneducated middle-aged people who did their best for the association. Now we have a new confident educated bunch of young people around and it is time to let them have their say. I'm not saying that all the old fogies, like myself, should be shown the door. However a sizeable number of new young faces would be a tonic for the clubs, the County Boards and the GAA in general. So Committeeman, I hope your handle is not just for the HS. Hope you will have some of your friends propose you for the delegate's job and maybe in a few years you will be in the chair. I know that my old friend NorthMeathman is already making his way up to Pairc Tailteann regularly and giving them a piece of his mind. However as he is nearly as old as myself he's hardly the one to make all the difference.
