Kilmessan 4-23 Knockananna 1-3

Kilmessan got their Leinster campaign off to a winning start overcoming Wicklow champions Knockananna in atrocious conditions at Dunsany last Sunday.

The game was tightly contested in the opening ten minutes as both teams struggled with the mucky conditions and constant rainfall however after the sending of the Knockananna corner back for a deliberate strike on Kilmessan's Nadine Doyle at the end of the opening quarter, it was pretty much one way traffic for the remainder of the game.

It was far from pretty camogie but the Meath girls got the win they wanted and will now face Kildare Intermediate Champions Leixlip next Sunday (away) with time TBC

Best for Kilmessan on a miserable day were Leah Dennehy, Megan Thynne and Caoimhe O'Leary

Kilmessan: T. Murphy, S. Thynne, R. Kelly, C.O'Leary, L. O'Neill, A. Lynch, T. King, A. Walshe, M. Thynne, S. Horan, A. Donnelly, N. Doyle, M. Ni Choileain, K. Ni Choileain, L. Dennehy. Subs: AM Martin for T. Murphy, M. O'Leary for L. O'Neill, K. Gorman for N. Doyle, A. Brady for M. Ni Choileain and A. Donnelly for A. Lynch.
