Boardsmill 2-13 St Ultans 0-7

The 2016 senior finalists met in this years semi final in Skryne on Sunday night.

There was to be no repeat of the whirlwind start by St Ultans on this occasion and indeed it was the south Meath girls who started brightly. Laura Dempsey and Paula Dorian gave the Mill girls a 4 points to 2 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Ger Doherty and Ash Marley pointing for St Ultans.

Boardsmill then took a decisive advantage scoring 1-3 to a single Doherty point in reply. Helen Regan who was influential at midfield grabbed the all important goal while Dempsey (2) and Susan Kealey got the points. Boardsmill had set up defensively but attacked with pace when the opportunity presented itself. Caroline Quinn who showed for ball throughout, got the Mill's second goal. She beat her marker to crash a shot off the cross bar and was alive to the rebound which she volleyed to the net. Boardsmill had a decisive advantage, leading by 10 points at half time.

The winners introduced Laura Griffin during the break.  However it was  Ultans who started brighter with 2 Doherty points. Boardsmill had threatened to grab another goal but for Irene Munnelly saving well from Amy Troy's goal bound effort. Edel Guy was also introduced and Boardsmill went on to grab points through Griffin, Amy Troy and Laura Bagnall. Raina Griffin, Niamh Newman and Hannah Kealey were also introduced by the eventual winners. The Mill girls showed maturity to see out the remaining 10 minutes of the game with points from Laura Griffin and Edel Guy (2). Kathleen Yore responded with 2 well taken points for St Ultans.

Boardsmill can now look forward to a novel final pairing with Oldcastle who were victorious in the earlier semi final against Royal Gaels.
