September 18, 2017

Dunboyne defeated Donaghmore Ashbourne to win the Intermediate championship title.

It proved a very exciting weekend for Ladies club football in the county.

On Saturday the Junior and Intermediate football championship finals were down for decision at Dunshaughlin.

Dunboyne made up for the disappointment of losing last years Intermediate decider to Royal Gaels by defeating Donaghmore Ashbourne 2-17 to 3-5. Ashbourne led at the break 1-4 to 0-6.

Clann na nGael were crowned Junior champions with a narrow 2-8 to 2-7 win over Navan O'Mahonys. The Athboy girls atoned for their final loss in 2015 to Dunboyne.

The two senior semi finals were down for decision at Skryne on Sunday. After an enthralling encounter Oldcastle booked their place in the decider with a 2-14 to 2-11 win over Royal Gaels after extra time.

Boardsmill made up for their county final loss to St Ultans last year at Pairc Tailteann by totally dominating the champions and winning 2-13 to 0-7. The Mill were 2-7 to 0-3 up at the interval.

Its sets up an intriguing final and a new era in Meath ladies club football. Its more than 15 years since either Seneschalstown or St. Ultans have not appeared on senior football championship final day.
