Team news: Royal U21's to face Westmeath

February 22, 2017

Meath's Eoghan Greene

Meath manager Barry Callaghan has named his team to take on neighbours Westmeath in tonight's opening round of the Leinster Under 21 football championship.

Moynalty's Jonathan Lynch takes the number 1 jersey, a position he held in last year's semi-final loss to Dublin at Parnell Park.

The team is captained by Brian Conlon from county champions Simonstown Gaels. Midfielders Sean Reilly and Sean Noonan had impressive Hastings Cup campaigns.

The Royals will look to a very potent forward division to unsettle the Westmeath defence. Thomas O'Reilly, Daragh Campion, Conor Moriarty and David McLoughlin were in fine scoring form as Meath claimed the Longford Under 21 tournament.

Throw in at Lakepoint Park in Mullingar is at 7.30pm.

Meath (U21FC v Westmeath): Jonathan Lynch (Moynalty), Eoghan Greene (Skryne), Robin Clarke (Duleek Bellewstown), James Reilly (Gaeil Colmcille), James Mooney (Meath Hill), Brian Conlon (Simonstown), Cian Devlin (Summerhill), Sean Reilly (Moylagh), Sean Noonan (Seneschalstown), Eoin Smyth (Skryne), Thomas O'Reilly (Wolfe Tones), Daragh Campion (Skryne), Conor Moriarty (Curraha), David McLoughlin (Moynalvey), Fionn Reilly (Gaeil Colmcille).
